Apple Announces iPad International Rollout Dates

Apple announced that its bestselling iPad will be available in nine international markets starting May 28, with preordering in those countries starting May 10. In July, the iPad will expand to still more countries, including Belgium and Hong Kong. Apple had previously announced delays in its international rollout due to sales that apparently exceeded the companys supply pipeline and internal expectations. More than 1 million iPads have been sold since the devices April 3 release.

T-Mobile Intros 3.5G Rollout Plans, Dell Netbook

T-Mobile plans to rollout HSPA+, a 3.5G technology said to offer three times the speed of 3G networks, across its network by years end. At CTIA, it showed off its HSPA+ speeds on the Dell Inspiron Mini 10, its very first netbook offering.
– T-Mobile pulled the sheet off the master plan for its new high-speed

Verizon Wireless on Track for Big LTE Rollout in 2010

Verizon Wireless is on track to deploy LTE in 25 to 30 markets, it has previously announced, after successful testing in Boston and Seattle. The rollout will enable LTE to finally begin catching up to WiMax, which Clearwire and Sprint currently offer in 27 U.S. markets.

Despite its struggles, Sprint continues to push wireless 4G WiMax service with official launches in Chicago and Dallas-Fort Worth along with three markets in North Carolina. By the end of 2009, Sprint promises WiMax rollouts in Honolulu, Seattle, San Antonio and Austin, Texas.

Google Wave Faces Tougher Test in Rollout to 100K Users

Google’s Wave collaboration platform will soon face its first true test when the company rolls it out to 100,000 consumer and business users. Perhaps the biggest mystery is what companies will do to build on top of the Wave platform. British Telecom’s Ribbit VOIP arm plans to launch telephony-based gadgets built specifically for the Google Wave platform. Mozilla Firefox Hits 1 Billion Downloads, Still Gaining in Enterprise

Mozilla Firefox, the open-source challenger to Microsoft’s Internet Explorer, passed the 1-billion download mark on July 31, with a Website and Twitter feed marking the occasion. Although Firefox has managed to seize an increasing percentage of the consumer market since its original rollout in 2002, its gains have been somewhat slower in the enterprise, where a variety of factors have kept Internet Explorer as the browser of choice for many IT administrators.
