Rompuy urges EU expansion in first “Europe Address”

President of the European Council Herman van Rompuy warned against protectionism, nationalism and euroskepticism in the first annual “Europe Address” in Berlin. The speech, organized by three German policy institutes, is meant to to measure progress in European integration and is to take place every year on November 9, the anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall.

President meets with EU’s Rompuy in Belgrade

President of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy was visiting Serbia and was expected to “confirm the Western Balkans’ European perspective”, said reports.
Van Rompuy is in Belgrade this Monday where he has met with Serbian President Boris Tadić.

Rompuy to visit Belgrade on July 6

President of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy will visit Belgrade on July 6, Rompuy’s cabinet stated for Tanjug on Thursday.
According to his deputy spokesman Jesus Carmona, Rompuy will begin his mini tour of the Balkans on Monday, which will include his visit to Slovenia on July 5, and to Croatia, Belgrade and Priština on July 6.

Tadić meets with EU’s Rompuy

Serbian President Boris Tadić met in Brussels with European Council President Herman van Rompuy. After meeting with Rompuy, Tadić said that Serbia will never recognize Kosovo and that Belgrade has clear guidelines regarding cooperation with the province.

Tadić to meet with Ashton, Rompuy

Rompuy: Ratification of SAA in June

European President Herman Van Rompuy said after talks with Serbian Prime Minister Mirko Cvetković that he was hoping that the SAA would be ratified by June. Van Rompuy expressed satisfaction in the fact that the interim trade part of Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA) has taken effect, adding that he fully supports the integration of Serbia and the Western Balkans into the EU.
