Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti: Fall Tour Dates w/ Flaming Lips

TOUR DATES WITH THE FLAMING LIPS, PURO INSTINCT AND MAGIC KIDS

Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti

Ariel Pink’s
Haunted
Graffiti
‘s 4AD debut record, Before Today, consists of twelve tracks
(including the single “Round And Round”) and was released worldwide on June 8th 2010 on
CD, LP and digital
formats.

Six months in the making, Before Today was recorded in part in Encino at the House
of Blues (once Tito
Jackson’s home studio) with Sunny Levine (Quincy Jones’ grandson) and Rik Pekkonen (Bill
Withers, Seals & Crofts,
Bread) as well as at the band’s home studios. The result is a beguiling mix of glam rock,
West Coast funk and
Merseybeat harmonies with a high-production sheen; a contrast to the corroded bedroom
recordings that have
fomented a fervent cult following over the past decade.

The outfit now consists of reclusive pop surrealist Ariel Pink (vocals) alongside
Tim Koh
(bass/vocals), Kenny Gilmore (guitar/vocals) and Aaron Sperske
(drums/vocals).

Last night at Town Hall in Auckland, NZ, Pavement played their first show in over 10 years. The band busted out a 25-song set that began with “In the Mouth a Desert,” from 1992′s full-length debut, Slanted and Enchanted and went on to include “Grounded,” “Cut Your Hair,” “Gold Soundz,” “Shady Lane,” “Rattled by the Rush,” “Range Life,” “Stereo,” and “Spit on a Stranger” amongst others.

Following the show, guitarist Scott “Spiral Stairs” Kannberg hit up his blog where he reported: “We were seriously nervous! The show was great. The fans were unreal. Whew… all those Pavement anxiety dreams can now go away!”

There are a bunch of YouTube videos posted here. We’ve pulled a few for your enjoyment:

Slayer/Megadeth/Testament: Set New Tour Dates

SLAYER, MEGADETH ANNOUNCE NEW, CONFIRMED SCHEDULE FOR
AMERICAN CARNAGE NORTH AMERICAN TOUR

Slayer

Slayer and Megadeth are thrilled to announce confirmed routing for the American Carnage North American Tour, which will commence with the rescheduled Canadian Carnage East dates in Quebec City on Friday, July 23.

Slayer will then head to Europe for a run of festival dates, returning to kick off the American Carnage leg in Albany, NY on August 11. American Carnage will play 26 dates across the United States and Eastern Canada up to the Labor Day weekend, ending in Portland, OR on September 4. Testament will be Special Guest on all shows.

Tickets purchased for the American Carnage shows when they first went on sale late last year will be honored for these rescheduled dates. Complete information regarding ticket sales can be found at Slayer’s wesbite, Megadeth’s site and/or Testament’s site.

Due to venue availability and other conflicts, the shows originally scheduled in El Paso, Houston, Nashville, Duluth, and Louisville cannot be rescheduled at this time, and ticket holders may obtain refunds at point of purchase. However, new cities have been added to the American Carnage itinerary, with dates now scheduled in Cleveland, Kansas City, San Diego, and Sacramento. The confirmed, complete itinerary is below.

The American Carnage Tour, originally scheduled to take place in January and February, had to be put on hold due to Slayer’s vocalist/bassist, Tom Araya‘s ongoing, minimally-invasive treatments for what was diagnosed as a Cervical Radiculopathy, an occupational hazard for the rocker who is known for aggressively swinging his long mane of hair while performing. Right after the first of the year, Araya made the difficult decision to undergo a surgical procedure, called an Anterior Cervical Discectomy with Fusion, a relatively routine practice with an excellent recovery rate. That surgery took place early last week.

“The doctors said that Tom’s surgery went very smoothly and was a resounding success,” said Rick Sales, long-time Slayer manager. “He’s home now, doing really well, and he said the numbness in his fingers had already diminished considerably.”

Shortly after the surgery, Slayer’s Kerry King received a text from Tom: “Awake and feeling good, actually whatever he did, it feels better.”

The American Carnage Tour will mark the first time that Slayer, Megadeth and Testament will have toured the U.S. together since 1991′s epic Clash of the Titans tour, making this truly a “must-see” event.

Slayer recently announced the rescheduling of its headline tour in the U.K. and Europe, and Megadeth and Testament are currently on tour together playing U.S. cities that will not be on the American Carnage itinerary.

Alice in Chains: N. American Tour

ALICE IN CHAINS ANNOUNCE NORTH AMERICAN TOUR, NEW SINGLE “YOUR DECISION” HITS RADIO DECEMBER 7

Alice in Chains

Alice In Chains have announced dates for a North American tour set to kick off at the Orpheum Theatre in Vancouver on February 2, 2010. Tickets go on sale December 4 and 5. The band is touring in support of its critically acclaimed new album Black Gives Way To Blue (Virgin/EMI), which entered Billboard’s Top 200 Albums Chart at No. 5, with first-week sales exceeding 126,000 copies.

The band’s electrifying set list will spotlight classic hits and new favorites, including new single “Your Decision,” which hits radio December 7. The band recently shot a video for the song with director Stephen Schuster, who they previously worked with for the video “A Looking In View.”

Los Angeles-based AIC fans can catch the band performing at the KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas show at the Gibson Amphitheatre on December 12. Tickets will go on sale Saturday, November 21 and proceeds will benefit two local charities, Para Los Ninos and the Al Wooten Jr. Heritage Center. On November 24, the band will also perform three songs acoustically for a special Yahoo! Maximum Performance, which can be seen on Yahoo! Music.

In other news, Alice In Chains recently released a Black Gives Way To Blue iPhone app, which features full songs from the album, music videos, news, photos, social networking and much more. The app separates itself from the pack with an impressive level of interactivity; its custom-built functionality allows fans to interact with each of the album’s 11 tracks via a touch, drag and hold feature that reveals hidden visual gems. A demo of the app (which was designed and developed by Mobile Roadie, Streetwise Concepts & Culture and EMI Music) can be viewed here.

The band (guitarist/vocalist Jerry Cantrell, guitarist/vocalist William DuVall, drummer Sean Kinney, and bassist Mike Inez) is currently touring Europe and recently performed on the U.K. television show Later … With Jools Holland. The international dates followed a sold-out U.S. buzz tour and performances on The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien and back-to-back nights on Jimmy Kimmel Live. All three shows saw AIC perform chart-topping lead single “Check My Brain,” which hit No. 1 on the Modern, Active and Rock formats, and was hailed by Spin magazine as “one of the catchiest songs of Alice In Chains’ history.”

Slayer, Megadeth, Testament: American Carnage Tour

SLAYER, MEGADETH TEAM UP FOR AMERICAN CARNAGE TOUR
Co-Headliners to Tour the U.S. Together For the First Time in Nearly Two Decades,
Testament to be Special Guest, Recession-Proof $10.00 Tickets Available in All U.S. Markets

Slayer

Slayer. Megadeth. Two names synonymous with fierce, crunching power. Two bands whose histories are inevitably intertwined in defining the thrash/metal genre. Megadeth and Slayer will join forces to co-headline the American Carnage tour, which will kick off on January 18 in Seattle, WA for a 26-date trek across North America that will include the six Canadian dates postponed earlier this month. Tickets for most shows go on sale this Friday, November 20. Ticketmaster is offering a special presale for most shows from Wednesday, November 18 at 10AM until Thursday, November 19 at 10PM.

American Carnage is the first time that Slayer and Megadeth will have toured the U.S. together since 1991′s epic Clash of the Titans tour. To celebrate that, and in recognition of the tough economic times that many of their fans are having, Megadeth and Slayer have decided to roll back the price of a chunk of tickets at every U.S. show to the “1991 price” of $10.00. These specially-priced tickets will be limited and when they’re gone, they’re gone. Megadeth has also teamed with iloveallaccess.com to provide an Ultimate Fan Package including premium seats, meet and greets, pre-show parties and more.

In addition, Testament, who was also on the ’91 Clash of the Titans bill, will be special guests on the entire tour, marking the first time that all three bands have shared a stage together in more than 18 years, and making this a “must see” metal event.

Both Megadeth and Slayer will hit the road supporting new albums: Megadeth’s 2009 album, ENDGAME, and Slayer’s World Painted Blood, the band’s 10th studio venture, which hit stores November 3. Testament’s The Formation of Damnation: Special Tour Edition, will be released on February 23, 2010 with special unreleased bonus tracks.

Slayer and Megadeth have already massacred territories together outside of the U.S., first with four explosive dates in June 2009 across Western Canada – Canadian Carnage – marking the first time the bands had shared a stage anywhere in 18 years; and then six co-headlining Carnage dates in Australia followed in October.

According to various Canadian press outlets last summer: “It was a night of thrash impossible to trash…” “Tales about war, death, destruction, Satan, aliens and serial killers have never been so much fun…” “The two heavy metal heavyweights…went head-to-head on a level playing field. Both bands brought their ‘A’ game. And the results were anything but pretty – unless you include pretty freakin’ loud and pretty freakin’ awesome.”
