The Serbian dinar (RSD) has continued to strengthen against the euro for the seventh consecutive day. On Tuesday its value increased by 56 paras, thus setting the official middle exchange rate at RSD 104,3460, announced the National Bank of Serbia.

Serbian Prime Minister Mirko Cvetković visited Saturday the flooded areas and said that the government would allocate RSD 10mn aid to flood victims.

Price of cigarettes will go up by about RSD 20 for one pack in 2011 after Finance Minister Diana Dragutinović decided to increase cigarette excise tax.

State budget deficit data out
Serbia’s budget deficit in the period from January-October 2010 equaled RSD 98.5mn, or some EUR 920mn, it has been announced. The Serbian Finance Ministry said in Belgrade on Monday that Serbia’s budget revenues in the first ten months of 2010 amounted to RSD 524bn, whereas expenditures totaled RSD 622.5bn.

Minister to propose increase of aid to pensioners
Economy Minister Mlađan Dinkić said that he would propose an increase of financial aid for pensioners receiving under RSD 30,000 to the IMF mission. Ahead of the opening of the talks of the International Monetary (IMF) mission on Thursday, Dinkić said that he would propose to the IMF mission that this aid be increased from RSD 2,000 to RSD 5,000 for pensioners receiving under RSD 30,000 per month.

The Serbian dinar (RSD) is today 0.29 percent stronger against the euro, thus setting the official middle exchange rate at RSD 104.6809. The central bank made no intervention on the foreign exchange market on Friday.
