Fuel prices to rise by RSD 3.14 per liter

The fuel prices in Serbia will rise by an average of 3.12 percent or RSD 3.14 per liter, the Ministry of Energy said in a statement on Thursday. The price of motor gasoline will rise by an average of RSD 2.87 dinars per liter, while the price of diesel fuel will increase by RSD 3.40.

Belgrade to send aid to Haiti

The city of Belgrade has approved RSD 5mn of aid for the people of Haiti, where catastrophic earthquakes have left hundreds of thousands dead or homeless. Deputy Belgrade Mayor Radmila Hrustanović said that Belgrade and its citizens expressed deep regret and condolences for all the victims, and will send aid of RSD 5mn (about EUR 50,000); with the wishes that the survivors will be able to recover and live normal lives as soon as possible.

Budget deficit lower than planned

Serbia has had a budget deficit of RSD 93.8bn (EUR 964.8mn) at the end of 2009, the Ministry of Finance has announced. Revenues amounted to RSD 619.4bn, and expenditure to RSD 713.2bn, the statement said.

Dinar hits all-time low against euro

The Serbian dinar (RSD) has been losing value against the euro for the third day in a row this Wednesday. Today the home currency was down 0.35 percent, with the oficial exchange rate close to the so-called psychological threshold of RSD 97 for one euro – at RSD 96.9951.

“Goal to save jobs this year”

National Employment Service Director Vladimir Ilić says 2010 will see continued activities aimed at preserving existing jobs. “The budget will effectively remain at the same level, with a nominal increase of RSD 200mn, meaning, from RSD 3.5bn to RSD 3.7bn, which will certainly contribute to saving a significant number of jobs,” Ilić said of the funds at the disposal of his service.

Fines to be increased for parking violations

In accordance with the new traffic safety law, in between RSD 10,000-18,500 (EUR 105-193) will have to be paid for illegally parked cars that are towed away. The parking violation is fined RSD 5,000, while the rest of the charges are for having the car towed away.

NS leader: Govt. has no perspective

New Serbia (NS) leader Velimir Ilić said that Serbia currently has a government with no perspective. “The government promised EUR 1,000 to each citizens that is of legal age, and in the end gave RSD 1,000, they promised 200,000 new jobs in a year and made 100,000 people redundant, they are promising equal regional development while Serbia is sinking,” Ilić said.

Budget deficit at RSD 78.3bn

Serbia’s budget deficit for 11 months in 2009 amounts to RSD 78.3bn (some EUR 818mn). The revenue was RSD 585.3bn and expenditure equaled RSD 663.6bn in this period, it was announced in Belgrade on Tuesday.

Government adopts draft 2010 budget

The Serbian government adopted on Tuesday in Belgrade the draft bill on the 2010 budget. According to the document that will now be sent to parliament for adoption, the revenue next year will be RSD 655.9bn (EUR 6.87bn), while the expenditure is expected to reach RSD 762.9bn (EUR 7.99bn)

Protest costs Serbian Railways RSD 30mn

Serbian Railways (ŽS) has announced that it lost RSD 30mn (some EUR 320,000) due to a three-day blockade of the Belgrade-Niš railroad near Lapovo. The public company stated that direct damages amounted to some RSD 20mn, of which 2.5mn from commercial and the rest from freight traffic disruption, while indirect costs reached 10mn.

Budget deficit in first ten months revealed

Serbia’s budget deficit was RSD 75.1bn in the first ten months of 2009, the Serbian Finance Ministry announced. The revenues were RSD 525.5 billion, while expenditures reached RSD 600.6bn.

Finance minister doesn’t know where billions go

Serbian currency gains 0.16 percent

The Serbian dinar (RSD) has gained 0.16 pct against the euro (EUR) at the start of this week. The official median exchange rate is now at RSD 92.9470 for one euro, the National Bank of Serbia (NBS) announced in Belgrade on Monday.

Budget deficit totals RSD 53.8bn

The Serbian budget deficit reached at the end of July RSD 53.8bn, the Ministry of Finance has stated. According to this, revenue amounted to RSD 358.4bn, while expenditure was RSD 412.2bn.

NIS posts profit in Q2

NIS has had profit of RSD 3.8bn (some EUR 40mn) in the second quarter of 2009, the company’s CEO Kirill Kravchenko told reporters. Kravchenko, who is also vice chairman of the Gazprom Neft management board, said that Q1 losses of RSD 11bn mean that the company lost RSD 7.2bn in the first six months of this year.

Top 100 had RSD 79.5bn profit

The one hundred most successful companies in Serbia realized a net profit of RSD 79.5bn in 2008. This amounts to 26.6 percent of the total net profit of the Serbian economy, according to research conducted by the Republic Development Bureau.

C. bank chief: Exchange rate stable

The exchange rate of the dinar (RSD) will remain stable, but not fixed, says National Bank of Serbia (NBS) governor Radovan Jelašić. The central bank will continue to create conditions for the normal functioning of the foreign currency market, he added.
