Greek parliament ratifies Serbia’s SAA with EU

The Greek parliament has ratified Serbia’s Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA) with the European Union, the Greek embassy in Belgrade announced today.
Greek Ambassador to Serbia Dimostenis Stoidis pointed out that the ratification is a practical expression of the commitment with which Greece has supported Serbia’s EU membership, as part of its Agenda 2014 initiative, designed to accelerate the European integration of the countries in the Western Balkans.

EC expected to find excise taxes violation of SAA

The EC could send an official letter to Belgrade on Friday, stating that dual excise taxes on oil derivates violate European regulations, B92 has learned.

Serbian parliament Speaker Slavica Đukić-Dejanović told B92 that she expected the government to propose changes to the Excise Tax Law in order to harmonize it with the European standards.

SAA ratification positive stimulus

According to the first reactions, adoption of Serbia’s Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA) is a positive stimulus for further EU integration.

Serbian PM Mirko Cvetković has stated he expects that the SAA ratification would encourage other EU member states that still have not ratified the SAA to do so.

MEPs approve ratification of Serbia’s SAA

Members of the European Parliament today in Strasbourg voted in favor of approving the ratification of the SAA signed between Serbia and the EU.
The voting was originally scheduled for Tuesday, but was postponed for technical reasons.

FM discusses SAA ratification, Kosovo

Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremić expressed his satisfaction on Tuesday with the debate on Serbia in the European Parliament (EP). Hungary approves EU-Serbia SAA

The National Assembly of Hungary on Monday approved the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA) between the European Union and Serbia. The bill with which Hungary approves the Agreement was backed by 315 parliament members, two voted against it, while 43 abstained from vote, the Hungarian national news agency MTI reported late on Monday.

Slovenia ratifies Serbia’s SAA

The National Assembly of Slovenia ratified unanimously Serbia’s Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA) with the EU on Wednesday.

Slovakia ratifies SAA

The Slovak Parliament ratified the Stabilization and Association Agreement between Serbia and the EU on Wednesday. The National Council of the SLovak Republic adopted the agreement with only one of the 140 present MPs not voting in favor of ratifying the agreement, according to Radio Deutsche Welle.

The Italian parliament in Rome has ratified the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA) between the European Union (EU) and Serbia. This was confirmed by the Italian embassy in Belgrade today.

Another country ratifies SAA with Serbia

The Bulgarian parliament today ratified Serbia’s Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA) with the EU, the Radio Television of Serbia (RTS) reported.
Bulgaria is the first country in the region and the third EU member state that ratified the agreement.

“Malta ratified SAA with Serbia”

Malta has ratified the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA) with Serbia, Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremić said on Friday. “Today we have two countries that have ratified the SAA with Serbia. Those are Spain and Malta,” Jeremic told a news conference after a meeting with Malta’s Foreign Minister Tonio Borg in Belgrade.

European Union approves SAA ratification

The Council of the European Union decided today to submit the SAA with Serbia to the member-states’ parliaments for ratification. A statement issued following the meeting in Luxembourg on Monday said that after the latest report of Chief Hague Prosecutor Serge Brammertz, the Council “notes that Serbia has maintained its cooperation with the Tribunal with a view to delivering further positive results”.

“Spain to complete Serbian SAA ratification”

The Spanish parliament in May completed “90 percent of work” on the ratification of Serbia’s Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA) with this EU. This came as a gesture of strong support for Serbia in the EU integration process, Belgrade-based daily Danas writes today.

SNS supports ratification of SAA

The Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) stated that it supports the announcements that the SAA between Serbia and the EU will be unfrozen. SNS official Nikola Selaković said that this act could lead to positive changes for Serbian citizens.

Unfreezing of SAA “fairly certain”

The EU will most likely approve the start of the ratification process for the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA). A Dutch government officials said that his country would allow the SAA to be ratified if the new Hague cooperation report is positive. Director of the Dutch Foreign Ministry Department for South East and East Europe Caspar Veldkamp said in Belgrade on Monday that Holland could give its consent for the EU Council of Ministers to start the ratification of the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA) with Serbia
