The appearance of Apple’s popular iPhone on Verizon Wireless’ No. 1 wireless network in the U.S. has been something of a mythical unicorn for the past two years. But that legend has taken on some verve in the last few months, most recently thanks to Fortune. The publication Oct. 29 confidently confirmed the iPhone would come to Verizon early next year and actually called it Verizon’s "Dream Phone" in the headline, which can only be seen as an exercise in editorial hyperbole.
