Google Wave rolled out to 100,000 more users Sept. 30 as part of an extended preview. With this new rollout come Google prototypes including technology from SAP, Salesforce.com and MediaWiki that use the real-time collaboration platform in enterprise application scenarios. Google also unveiled extensions from British Telecom’s Ribbit and AccuWeather, among others, that augment Google Wave, which Google has open-sourced. SAP, Salesforce.com Could Sell Their Wares in the Google Wave Store

Salesforce.com, SAP and several other companies have lined up to show off applications they created using the APIs from the open-source Google Wave platform. If SAP and Salesforce.com flesh out their prototypes, they could be a lock to sell in the forthcoming Google Wave store. Real-time collaboration solutions leveraging Wave could prove very useful for users of enterprise and CRM applications, boosting the marketability of applications that can run in Wave.

Gist Helps Users Manage Their Social Networks From Outlook, Gmail, Salesforce.com

Gist launched to free beta today as a social network aggregator of sorts, pulling profile information on people and companies from social networks such as Facebook, Linkedin, Twitter, as well as from 20 million-plus blogs, and more than 50,000 news sources. Gist analyzes the contacts, then ranks and prioritizes the importance of contacts based on the frequency of messaging interaction a Gist user has with those contact. A Gist app for the iPhone coming in October.

RightNow Buys Social Software Provider HiveLive to Tackle Salesforce.com

Salesforce.com rival RightNow agrees to purchase enterprise social software concern HiveLive for $6 million in cash. RightNow will use the HiveLive platform as the social bridge to its multichannel contact center enterprise applications. Companies will be able to create customer support and idea generation communities that include forums, blogs, question-and-answer dialogues and media.

Salesforce.com Service Cloud 2 Expands Company’s SAAS Offerings

Salesforce.com has rolled out Service Cloud 2, an update to its cloud-based customer-service platform. New features include a Google-accessible knowledge base, tools to filter information from the cloud and social networks to that knowledge base, and a full integration of Twitter into customer-service monitoring and response. Salesforce.com has been relying on both its Service Cloud and Sales Cloud to expand aggressively into the business cloud-computing arena.
