Serbians, Macedonians to cross border with ID cards

Serbian Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Ivica Dačić is visiting Macedonia on January 28 and 29.

“Macedonian and Serbian citizens will soon be able to travel across the border with identity cards only, without passports,” he said Friday.

Serbians to get “another free share”

Eligible Serbian citizens will this month receive one free share each, this time from the Belgrade International Airport Nikola Tesla.
The value of the share will be some RSD 600 (EUR 5.7). Along with five shares per citizen from the NIS privatization, this would bring the value of the package to just over EUR 30.

“China won’t change position on Serbia”

Chinese Ambassador to Belgrade Wei Jinghua told daily Politika on Saturday that Beijing would not change its position on China-Serbia relations.

“China, as a principled country which values the feelings of the Serbian citizens and has never hurt them, will not change its position on the relations between the two countries,” the ambassador said, adding that he hoped that Belgrade would continue understanding and supporting China regarding issues of vital importance for the country.

War crimes suspects arrested

Five Serbian citizens have been arrested for war crimes, said War Crimes Prosecution Spokesman Bruno Vekarić.

According to him, all suspects were arrested in Serbia and were taken to an investigative judge of the Special Court in Belgrade.

Speaker: No popular support for NATO

Serbian parliament speaker Slavica Đukić-Dejanović today in Belgrade met with a delegation of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly (PA). She informed them that the government has support of over 70 percent of Serbian citizens in overcoming all obstacles on the road to the EU, but that there is insufficient support for joining NATO.

Deported families have no place to live

Most of the 700 or so Serbian citizens who have been deported from EU member-states this year are existentially threatened.

About 700 citizens have been deported from EU countries since the beginning of the year. Authorities say that accommodation is the biggest problem of these deported people.

“Citizens should not fear shortages”

Serbian Agriculture Minister SaÅ¡a Dragin stated that the Serbian citizens need not fear new shortages. “Citizens should not be afraid of new market shortages and food crises. SNS blames govt. for negative ICJ decision

Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) official Marko Đurić said that SNS believes that the government is to blame for the ICJ’s negative opinion on Kosovo. “The government in Serbia has been acting independently in regards to Kosovo recently, there was little consultation with the opposition political parties and Serbian citizens, and the responsibility must be on those who took the responsibility on themselves to form policies without consulting all relevant political actors,” Đurić said.

Macedonian citizens are the only ones in the region that have smaller monthly earnings on average than Serbian citizens. The average net wage in Serbia in May was about EUR 320, which is realistically 5.5 percent and nominally 4.3 percent less than in April.

Serbians owe banks EUR 560 on average

Average credit debt of Serbian citizens has reached EUR 560, while the delay in payment of loans is increasing every month by 0.1 percent. This is according to the data presented by General Secretary of the Association of Serbian Banks Veroljub Dugalić on Monday in Belgrade.
