The Weather Investments telecommunications company, registered in Italy, is interested in acquiring Telekom Srbija, Serbian government sources told Beta. According to the sources, Weather Investments wishes to participate in the tender for the acquisition of 51 percent of the Serbian state-owned telecommunications comany shares but, before that, the commission that is carrying out the tender procedure has to grant them permission to buy the documents required for participation in the procedure.

Daily: Disbanded unit’s mutiny probed
The Special Prosecution in Belgrade is conducting preliminary proceedings about the 2001 mutiny of the Unit for Special Operations (JSO).
The Serbian State Security (DB) unit was disbanded after the 2003 murder of Prime Minister Zoran ÄinÄ‘ić, and now Belgrade daily Politika writes that the prosecution’s investigation could be connected to the political background of the assassination.

Serbian State Secretary for Justice Slobodan Homen has stated that Serbia and Montenegro started talks on an extradition agreement in Podgorica on Friday. In a statement for Tanjug, Homen expressed expectation that the agreement will be signed in mid-October.

The Defense of Franko Simatović, former Serbian State Security (DB) deputy chief, has requested postponing the continuation of the trial, scheduled for March 1. The defense would like the case postponed until April 12, so the new team of lawyers would have enough time for preparation.
Chinese president invited to visit Serbia
Serbian President Boris Tadić has invited his Chinese counterpart Hu Jintao to visit Serbia. Their cabinets are now expected to determine a date for the visit. Sources with the Serbian state delegation, which is on a five-day official visit to China, said that Jintao accepted the invitation telling Tadić he would be pleased to visit “his beautiful country”, FoNet news agency reports.
