The Obama administration said Tuesday it has ended its effort to persuade Israel to renew its moratorium on most West Bank settlement activity, VOA reports.

Federal International vessel released after paying settlement

Federal International (2000) says vessel M.T. Federal II, belonging to subsidiary Eastern Jason Fabrication Service, has been released from New Mangalore Port in India after a settlement sum of US$350,000 ($453,950) was paid to the charterer of the vessel, which put the vessel under arrest.

U.S. President Barack Obama praised Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu for urging his cabinet to accept a U.S. proposal to extend a freeze on W. Bank settlements. The freeze would be extended for 90 days, RFE/RL reported.

FTC Modifies Intel Antitrust Settlement

The FTC has modified the agreement it reached with Intel that settled antitrust complaints against the chip maker. The modification removes an interface requirement from Intel’s "Oak Trail" Atom platform. –

Singapore Exchange (SGX) says it achieved record volumes for its Gold Deferred Settlement contract, Nikkei dividend and China A50 futures contracts for the month of September 2010.

SGX says securities trading remains healthy month-on-month, with total securities market turnover at $38 billion for September, 20% increase from August. Daily average value for September was $1.8 billion, 20% higher than in August.

Moya Dayen reaches settlement plan with debtors

Moya Dayen says it has entered into a settlement deed for the outstanding debt of US$975,000 owed by PT ATPK Resources Tbk. and PT Modal Investasi Mineral.

ATPK and MIM will repay the debt in instalments. If the companies fail to pay any of the instalments, they will have to pay Moya Dayen interest.

Moya Dayen also has the option to request that part or all of the outstanding debt be converted into ATPK shares.

Sembcorp Marine and Societe Generale reach full and final settlement

Sembcorp Marine says subsidiary Jurong Shipyard has reached an agreement with Societe Generale (SG) for a full and final amicable settlement of the disputed foreign exchange transactions.

Arising from this settlement, SG will make a payment of US$40 million ($53.1 million) to Jurong Shipyard.

Sembcorp Marine says the above settlement will result in a write-back of US$40 million and it will be taken up in its income statement in the third quarter of 2010.

The settlement with SG is also the last and final settlement with all the banks involved in the disputed foreign exchange transactions as amicable settlements have now been agreed with all the banks involved, says Sembcorp Marine.
