Thai Airways reviewing Tiger alliance after share sale

Thai Airways International Plc said on Thursday it was reviewing plans for a budget airline alliance with Singapore’s Tiger Airways after two big Tiger shareholders and its chief executive sold discounted shares in the budget carrier.

Tiger said substantial shareholders Indigo Singapore Partners and Ryanasia, along with chief executive Tony Davis, sold 65.796 million Tiger shares at a discounted price of $1.90 in a transaction worth about $125 million.

SingTel profit little changed at $943m, dampened by India unit

Singapore Telecommunications, said first-quarter profit was little changed as slower growth at regional associates including India offset contributions from its local business and Australian unit.

Net income was $943.2 million, or 5.91 cents a share, in the three months ended June 30, compared with $945.4 million, or 5.92 cents a share, a year earlier, Southeast Asia’s largest phone company said today in a statement. That compares with the $974.6 million average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Bloomberg News.

SingTel down as it goes ex-dividend

Shares of Singapore Telecommunications (STEL.SI) fell as much as 2.24% in morning trade on Friday as the share went ex-dividend.

Over 4.8 million shares had changed hands and the shares dropped 7 cents to $3.05 by mid-day.

“It’s purely ex-dividend. The ex-dividend is 8 cents so the share price adjusted for it,” a trader at a local brokerage said.

Singtel announces its April-June quarter results next week and analysts said they are expecting an annual increase of around 4% in net profit.

Shares of SingTel have fallen 2% since the start of the year.

SGX’s 4Q profit falls 13% to $79.6 million

Singapore Exchange, the operator of the city-state’s securities and derivatives markets, said fourth-quarter profit fell 13% as trading volumes declined.

Net income dropped to $79.6 million, or 7.43 cents a share, in the three months ended June, from $91.2 million, or 8.51 cents a share, a year earlier, the company said in a statement today. Operating revenue slipped 4.5% to $162.3 million as expenses increased 10% to $70.8 million.

Ezion Holdings off 0.7% on preference share sale

Ezion Holdings (5ME.SG) off 0.7% at $0.70 as investors mull earnings dilution risk following company’s issue of 53 million preference shares, which can be exchanged for ordinary stock over 3-year period, says Dow Jones.

Supplier of offshore support vessels will issue preference shares at $1 each to Venstar Investments, raising net proceeds of $51.3 million to be used for funding capex, general working capital needs, potential acquisitions.

“We see this issue of preference shares as a good option for Ezion’s funding requirements for its burgeoning business prospects, while avoiding immediate dilution,” says Kim Eng Securities, which has Buy call with $0.99 target.

Current pullback not accompanied by firm volume. Support at last week’s low of $0.675.

Khazanah offers $3.95 per share in Parkway general offer

Malaysian state investor Khazanah said on Monday it was offering $3.95 per share for all outstanding shares of Singapore healthcare firm Parkaway Holdings (PARM.SI). 

India’s Fortis Healthcare (FOHE.BO), which was locked in a battle with Khazanah for control of Parkway, has decided to accept the offer, Khazanah said in a statement. 

 
Fortis and Khazanah each currently own about 25% of Parkway.
