Cosco says unit gets more than $144.6m of ship orders

Cosco Corp. said its unit Cosco (Dalian) Shipyard Co. won contracts valued at more than $110 million ($144.6 million)to build three bulk carriers.

Deliveries are scheduled for September 2012 and January 2013, the company said in a statement to the Singapore exchange today.

Qatar Nakilat, Keppel in ship servicing contract with Shell unit

A venture between Qatar Gas Transport Co. and Keppel Offshore & Marine completed an agreement to service and repair ships for Shell International Trading & Shipping Co.

The venture, Nakilat-Keppel Offshore & Marine, or N-KOM, signed a three-year contract today with the Shell unit in a ceremony at N-KOM’s shipyard at Ras Laffan industrial city in Qatar.

Qatar Gas Transport Co., a liquefied natural gas transporter, is also known as Nakilat.

Nakilat owns 80% of N-KOM, while Keppel Offshore & Marine, a subsidiary of Keppel Corp., holds the rest.

Cosco Corp. posts 147.4% rise in 3Q net profit to $55.1m

Mainboard-listed Cosco Corporation (Singapore), the leading ship repair & marine engineering and shipping group, today says net profit attributable to equity holders of the company soared 147.4% to $55.1 million for the third quarter ended 30 September 2010 (3Q 2010) from $22.3 million in 3Q 2009.

Group turnover increased 26.7% to $952.7 million in 3Q 2010 on the back of higher progressive revenue recognition for the group’s ship building and offshore marine engineering projects and higher dry bulk shipping revenue. Ship building, repair and marine engineering turnover rose 27.4% to $918.7 million in 3Q 2010 on progressive completions of projects. Turnover from dry bulk shipping business increased 13.7% to $30.4 million in 3Q 2010 due to higher charter rates strategically secured at the points of charter renewals.

First Ship Lease Trust to distribute US0.95¢ per unit for 3Q

First Ship Lease Trust announced today the financial results for FSL Trust for the third quarter ended 30 September 2010 (3Q FY10).

For the quarter, FSL Trust will distribute US$5.7 million ($7.4 million) or US0.95¢ per unit to its unitholders.

The distribution per unit (DPU) for 3Q FY10 of US0.95¢, unchanged from 2Q FY10, represents an annualised tax-exempt yield of 10.3%1. The distribution will be paid on 26 November 2010 to all unitholders on record as at 1 November 2010.

Rickmers Maritime gets $765m 5-year ship financing loan

Rickmers Maritime, a Singapore-based business which owns and operates containerships under fixed-rate charters, got a US$565 million ($765 million) term loan which matures in 2015, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.

Proceeds will be used for ship financing and lead arrangers include DnB Nor ASA and HSH Nordbank AG, the data show.
