Singapore Nov visitor arrivals rise 16.1% from a year ago

Visitor arrivals to Singapore in November rose 16.1% from a year earlier to 963,000, the highest figure ever recorded for the month of November, the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) said on Thursday.

The number was, however, lower than October’s 978,000 visitors as well as the record 1.1 million achieved in July.

Singapore Oct visitor arrivals soar 16% from a year ago

Visitor arrivals to Singapore in October rose 15.8% from a year earlier to 978,000, the highest number of arrivals recorded for the month of October ever, the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) said on Wednesday.

But the number was still below July’s figure when a record 1.1 million people visited the city-state.

Singapore October visitor arrivals surge 16% to 978,000

Singapore attracted 978,000 visitors in October, a 16% increase from a year earlier, the Singapore Tourism Board said in an e-mailed statement today. Tourism receipts in the first nine months of the year increased 47% to $13.7 billion from a year earlier, helped by the opening of two integrated casino resorts, the board said.

Singapore visitor arrivals up 18% on year to 996,000 in August

Visitor arrivals to Singapore rose 18% on year to 996,000 in August, marking the ninth straight month of record arrivals to the island nation, according to a government statement Tuesday.

Indonesia, China, Malaysia, Australia and India were the top five visitor-generating markets, accounting for half the arrivals in August, the Singapore Tourism Board said, adding that 14 out of the 15 top markets registered growth in arrivals during the month.

Singapore visitor arrivals up 26.7% in June

Singapore visitor arrivals rose 26.7% in June from a year ago to 950,000, the best figure since December’s record number, as the city-state’s two new casinos attracted more tourists from the region. 

This was the seventh consecutive month of record visitor arrivals in the island state. A total of 946,000 visitors arrived in May and 939,000 in April, said the Singapore Tourism Board.

May visitor arrivals rise 30.3% on year: Government

Visitor arrivals to Singapore grew 30.3% on year in May to 946,000, the Singapore Tourism Board said in a statement Monday, says Dow Jones. The government said visitor numbers are the highest on record for the month of May, marking the sixth consecutive month of record visitors. Visitor numbers from Hong Kong rose 48.8%, Malaysian visitors rose 48.7% and Taiwan visitors grew 47.4%.

Singapore visitor arrivals surge on global rebound: Update

Singapore’s visitor arrivals surged in April as a recovery in the global economy encouraged travel and the island’s two casino-resorts attracted tourists to their roulette tables, shops and hotels.

Visitor arrivals rose 20.4% to 938,000 last month from a year earlier, the Singapore Tourism Board said in a statement today. The arrivals were the highest ever for April, and followed four months of record gains.

Singapore Tourism Chief ‘quite excited’ about visitor spending

Singapore Tourism Board Chief Executive Officer Aw Kah Peng said she’s “quite excited” about spending by visitors, led by Indonesians and Russians.

Singapore is set to boost visitor numbers by as much as 30% this year, as the integrated resorts attract tourists, she said. The Tourism Board expects to attract as many as 12.5 million visitors this year. Tourism receipts may rise as much as 50%, boosted by spending by Indonesian and Russian visitors, Aw said.

Singapore March arrivals up 17.3% as casino helps

Visitor arrivals in Singapore rose 17.3% in March from a year earlier to reach 928,000, the best ever recorded for the month of March, as the city-state gets a boost from its first casino opening in February.

In February visitor arrivals had surged 24% from a year earlier.

Hotel occupancy rose 14 percentage points from a year ago to 87.1%, with average room rates rising 3.3% in March to $205, the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) said on Tuesday.

February visitor arrivals rise 24.2% on-year

Visitor arrivals in Singapore rose 24.2% from a year earlier to 857,000, Singapore Tourism Board said today. The increase is the highest ever recorded in the month of February. It is also the third consecutive monthly increase. Visitor numbers from China rose 78.7% on year while visitors from Malaysia and Taiwan increased 50% and 39.2%, respectively.

Singapore visitor arrivals up 17.6% y-o-y in Jan

Visitor arrivals in Singapore rose 17.6% in January from a year earlier  to reach 908,000, the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) said on Friday. 
 
Average hotel room rates in January fell 9.5% from a year earlier to S$187 ($133) although occupancy rose 13.9 percentage points from a year ago to 80.4%, the STB said in a statement.

Singapore’s 2009 tourist arrival down 4.3% y-o-y

The number of visitors to Singapore fell by 4.3% last year to 9.7 million, driving the revenue from the sector down 19.2% to $12.4 billion, the country’s tourism promotion agency said today.

Singapore Tourism Board CEO Aw Kah Peng told a news conference the agency would disclose its forecast for tourist arrival and revenues for 2010 next month.

Visitor arrivals jump most in 3 years: Update

Singapore visitor arrivals in November jumped the most in three years, as the Hari Raya Haji holiday, held in December last year, attracted tourists from Malaysia and Indonesia.

Visitor arrivals gained 8.4% to 830,000 last month from a year earlier, the Singapore Tourism Board said in an e- mailed statement today. Arrivals from Malaysia rose 37%, while Indonesian visitors gained 20%. The board also said the 2009 “Reasons to enjoy Singapore” campaign helped spur an increase in visitors from Germany, China and Australia.

Singapore is betting on projects set to open in the coming two years, such as the International Cruise Terminal and the two integrated resorts, to spur tourism. In October, Singapore began work on a $500 million terminal to double cruise berthing capacity and boost visitors arriving by sea. The two integrated resorts, Marina Bay Sands and Resorts World Sentosa, are scheduled to open in 2010.

Visitor arrivals up 8.4% in Nov

Visitor arrivals in Singapore rose 8.4% in November from a year earlier, the highest growth for 2009, the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) said today.

The STB said there were 830,000 visitors in November.

Tourists also spent more time in Singapore in November, leading to the first year-on-year growth in 2009 for visitor-days, which edged up 0.7% to an estimated 3.1 million days.

Singapore visitor arrivals slip 0.5% in Oct

Visitor arrivals in Singapore in October fell 0.5%  from a year earlier, the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) said on Tuesday. 
 
The STB said there were 845,000 visitors in October. The total days spent by tourists in Singapore fell 4.6% to 3.3 million.

Visitor arrivals fall 0.5% y-o-y in October

Singapore’s visitor arrivals fell 0.5% in October from a year ago to 845,000, the Singapore Tourism Board said today.

In October, nine out of Singapore’s top 15 visitor arrival markets posted growth over October 2008.

China registered its first growth of 8.4% since May 2008, spurred by an unusual eight-day Golden Week holiday.

Hong Kong SAR posted the largest percentage growth at 27.4% among the top 15 markets due to attractive travel package promotions.

Malaysia (+26.2%), Vietnam (+11.8%), Australia (+7.6%), Thailand (+5.2%), Germany (+3.7%), the USA (+2.8%) and the UK (+2.3%) all saw growth this month.

Singapore arrivals up in Sept on year, 1st this year

Visitor arrivals in Singapore in September rose 7.1% from a year earlier, the first rise this year, the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) said on Tuesday. 
 
The pick up occurred as average hotel room rates fell 31.2% to $207. Occupancy rose 4.1 percentage points to 78.2%.
