Singapore developer bonds slide as rules added to cool prices

Bonds of CapitaLand, Southeast Asia’s biggest developer, fell after Singapore added to measures designed to cool the city-state’s real estate market.

CapitaLand’s $250 million in 4.35% notes due 2019 fell to 101.88 cents on the dollar from 102.48 cents on Aug 27, the lowest in about two weeks, according to Standard Chartered Plc prices. The yield on the $350 million of 4.3%, 10-year bonds it sold this month rose to 4.259% from 4.166.

Emerging markets may extend this year’s declines, as China cuts dependence on fixed-asset investment, lowering demand for commodities, according to JPMorgan Chase & Co’s Adrian Mowat.

“We’re going to get a further correction,” chief Asian strategist Mowat tells Bloomberg. “What we expect to happen is, bulk commodity demand is going to weaken as China rebalances away from building lots of infrastructure and real estate towards consumption.”

Yahoo saw its search share rise in April to 17.7, marking the second consecutive month of growth for a search engine that many industry watchers wrote off for losing market share. comScore’s April search engine stats show that Microsoft Bing grew to 11.8 percent from 11.7 percent. Microsoft Bing grabbed 11.5 percent of the U.S. search market in February, up from 11.3 percent in January, according to comScore. While Google grew slightly to 65.5 percent, Yahoo dropped from 17 percent through January to 16.8 percent in February. comScore Jan. 15 said Google and Microsoft grabbed more U.S. search market share from Yahoo in December, with Bing ascending to its greatest search share since August 2007. Google, which earlier this week threatened to close its search operations in China, rose to 65.7 percent from 65.6 percent in November 2009. Bing grew search share month-over-month to 10.7 percent from 10.3 percent. Yahoo continued to fall, down to 17.3 percent from 17.5 percent in November.
