Slovenia has sent a protest note to Croatia protesting what it sees as prejudging of the sea border between the two countries.
The Croatian national television reported that, according to Croatia’s rulebook, the border is established along the middle of the Bay of Piran, adding, however, that this will only be so until the completion of the demarcation between the two countries.

CWT reports dip in net profit of $5.5m in 3Q
CWT, the provider of integrated logistics solutions, today announced a net profit attributable to owners of $5.5 million for the three months ended 30 September 2010 (3QFY10), which is slightly lower than the $ 6.0 million recorded in 3QFY09.
For the quarter under review, the group recorded revenue of $192.7 million, up 23% from $156.9 million in 3QFY09 on the back of higher business volumes transacted under Freight Logistics, including maiden contribution from its newly established offices in Slovenia and Portugal. In addition to that, its Contract Logistics arm successfully secured new customer wins, further contributing to the top line performance for 3QFY10.
Serbia to give Slovenia Rome embassy
Slovenian PM Borut Pahor says an agreement had been reached with the Serbian government over the Serbia’s embassy in Italy. Under the agreement, Serbia’s embassy in Rome, in line with the 2006 agreement on succession in the former Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, would be transferred to Slovenia in the fall of next year.
Slovenia gets first black mayor
Ghana-born doctor Peter Bossman won local elections in Slovenia’s coastal town of Piran on October 24, RFE/RL reports. Bossman thus became Slovenia’s first black mayor.
Slovenia ratifies Serbia’s SAA
The National Assembly of Slovenia ratified unanimously Serbia’s Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA) with the EU on Wednesday.
Today is a big day for Serbian-Slovenian relations, stressed Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremić, who is currently visiting Slovenia.
Serbian FM visits Slovenia
Serbian FM Vuk Jeremić is visiting Slovenia and he will speak to his hosts about Serbia’s EU integration and the planned Belgrade-Priština dialogue on Kosovo.
The Serbian FM said after the meeting with his Slovenian counterpart Samuel Žbogar that EU membership was Serbia’s strategic interest.
Joint railway company begins operations tomorrow
Joint railway company of Serbia, Croatia and Slovenia Cargo 10 will begin to operate tomorrow, stated Assistant Infrastructure Minister Dejan Lasica.
He said that the first train of the joint railway company would leave from Paraćin at 8:30 CET and that its destination would be a town of Sežana in Slovenia.
Railway joint venture in Balkans
On 1 October at noon, the first train of the multi-national Balkan railway company Kargo 10 is scheduled to leave the Slovenian capital Ljubljana.
The protocol between Serbia, Croatia and Slovenia on the creation of the joint venture was signed on 9 September. A few days later Macedonia joined the project. Montenegro wants to follow suit, although the two non-founding partners will co-operate with, but not invest in, the company.
Protocol signed for joint railway company
Representatives of the railways of Serbia, Croatia and Slovenia signed a protocol on the harmonization of the founding act of joint railway company Cargo 10. The protocol practically sets up the company that is aimed at reducing the time of transport along Corridor 10 by train.
Slovenia supports Serbia’s European path
President of the National Assembly of Slovenia Pavel Gantar stated that Slovenia supports Serbia’s European integration. He said that his country has initiated preparations within the European Commission for an opinion on Serbia’s bid for EU candidacy.

A joint railroad company set up by Serbia, Croatia and Slovenia will officially start its operations on September 9. This is according to a statement on Saturday in Belgrade by Serbian Minister for Infrastructure Milutin Mrkonjić.
Slovenia adopts declaration on W. Balkans
Slovenia’s parliament has adopted a declaration on the Western Balkans which aims to strengthen relations and cooperation with the countries in the region. The declaration represents a framework of guidelines for Slovenia’s actions in the Western Balkans which was adopted by the government earlier this month.
Strasbourg court: Erasure of citizens unlawful
The European Court of Human Rights ruled that Slovenia did not implement the decision of the Constitutional Court relating to its so-called erased citizens.
Some 26,000 people, who came former Yugoslav republics and had residence in Slovenia as the former country disintegrated, were erased from the list of citizens in 1992 as Slovenia gained independence.
Slovenia adopts “W. Balkans strategy”
Slovenia’s government adopted on Thursday guidelines for the country’s activities in the Western Balkans in order to strengthen its activities in the region. The guidelines define Slovenia’s priorities and measures needed to reinforce Slovenia’s role there, Slovenian agency STA reports.
