Slovenia has signed a deal with Russia for a massive gas pipeline from Russia to Europe to run through its territory.
The South Stream accord was signed by the Slovenian and Russian cabinet ministers in Moscow.

Slovenia, Russia harmonize South Stream agreement

Slovenia and Russia have harmonized an agreement for the South Stream pipeline, which is expected to be signed during the Slovenian PM’s visit to Moscow. Administrator of the Energy Directorate of the Slovenian Economy Ministry, Janez Kopač, told daily Dnevnik that it is possible that the agreement will be signed during the qualifying match for the World Cup between Slovenia and Russia on November 14.

Serbian arrested with 24.5 kilos of heroin

Slovenian customs workers arrested a man carrying a Serbian passport and seized 24.5 kilograms of heroin in his Austrian license plates car. The identity of the man detained on Tuesday at the border crossing of Gruškovje, between Slovenia and Austria, has not been disclosed.

Tadić meets with Slovenia’s Pahor

President Boris Tadić spoke today with Slovenian Prime Minister Borut Pahor on the second day of his visit to Ljubljana. On Tuesday, after talks with his Slovenian counterpart Danilo Turk, Tadić thanked Ljubljana for supporting Serbia’s aspirations to join the EU.

“Western Balkans belong in EU”

French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner says that Serbia and the whole region belong “without doubt in the EU.” He told daily Večernje Novosti that the process of “unfreezing” in the Western Balkans had started with the warming of relations between Slovenia and Croatia, adding that “warmer” days would come for the rest of the frozen processes in the region, including the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA) between the EU and Serbia.

President on two-day visit to Slovenia

President Boris Tadić began a two-day official visit to Slovenia on Tuesday, meeting with the country’s senior officials. Serbia knocked out defending champions Russia last night to move into the semi-finals of the European Basketball Championships in Poland last night. “Time to apply agreement with Serbia”

It is time to apply the Interim Trade Agreement of the EU with Serbia, Austrian Minister of Foreign Affairs Michael Spindelegger said. Foreign minister on visit to Slovenia

Serbia’s foreign minister, Vuk Jeremić, is today starting a two-day working visit to Slovenia. Croatia, Slovenia overcome dispute

Slovenia and Croatia have managed to arrive at an agreement over their border dispute, reports say. Slovenian Prime Minister Borut Pahor and his Croatian counterpart Jadranka Kosor met in Ljubljana on Friday, along with their respective chiefs of diplomacy.

Suspected people traffickers arrested

Several persons have been arrested in Bijeljina, Å amac, Gradača and Domaljevci in Bosnia, on the orders of that country’s state prosecution. The international police operation, dubbed Tara 2, saw cooperation of law enforcement agencies from Bosnia, Serbia, Croatia and Slovenia, reports said.
