SNS: PM’s statement hypocritical

The Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) says that PM’s statement that teachers’ requests would jeopardize economic stability is a “pinnacle of hypocrisy”.

SNS official Marko Đurić said that Prime Minister Mirko Cvetković’s statement was hypocritical because the ruling parties “embezzle more than a billion of euros” a year through public procurement.

“DS, SNS could form govt. together”

Ivica Dačić says the ruling Democrats (DS) and the opposition SNS could form a government together even though they are political opponents. The leader of the Socilialists (SPS) and first deputy PM and interior minister in the current cabinet told B92 in Belgrade on Wednesday that “SNS thinks its chances of forming a coalition with DS are diminished by SPS’s strength, and for that reason the party’s political goal is to weaken the Socialists”.

SNS: Citizens struggling, government arrogant

Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) deputy leader Aleksandar Vučić says that the average income in Serbia is just above EUR 300. He added that, on the other hand, government representatives in public enterprises had enormous salaries.

Opposition party expects “unrest” at rally

Serb Progressive Party (SNS) deputy leader Aleksandar Vučić has stated that the government will try to cause riots at the SNS rally on February 5.

He called upon the citizens to express their dissatisfaction in a peaceful and dignified manner.

DS, SNS parties “not negotiating”

Ruling DS party official and cabinet minister Oliver Dulić says that “at the moment there are no negotiations” between his party and the opposition SNS. “We are completely satisfied with the cooperation within the ruling coalition and I am certain that once the elections are over DS will first negotiate with its coalition partners,” Dulić told B92 late on Sunday.

SNS, DSS can’t have broader cooperation

The Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) and the Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) believe that there is no need for attacks, SNS leader Tomislav Nikolić says.

He told B92 that in a talk with DSS leader Vojislav Koštunica on Friday, he insisted that “there should not be conflicts among the opposition, even when there is disagreement.”

“Government, SNS demagogues”

Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) leader Čedomir Jovanović has accused the government and the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) of demagogy.

“An avalanche of bad marketing and demagogy is launched by both the government and the SNS, which is copying them when something useless, but as a rule dangerous, should be proposed,” he told daily Blic.

DSS, SNS fail to agree on Constitution

Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) leader Vojislav Koštunica says that his party and the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) do not agree on the Constitution.

He added that the DSS would continue to oppose amending it.

SNS submits petition for change of Constitution

Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) leader Tomislav Nikolić submitted 304,580 signatures for the change of the Constitution to the Serbian parliament today.

The SNS thinks that the number of MPs should be reduced from 250 to 125, that the number of ministers should be between 12 and 15 and that positions of state secretaries should be repealed.

“SNS will not form government with DS”

Leader of the opposition SNS party Tomislav Nikolić has stated that this party will not form a government with the ruling Democrats (DS). This will not take place, he explained, “even if it proves impossible (after next elections) to create any ruling coalition at all”.

SNS reschedules rally

The Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) will submit its initiative for the change of the Constitution in order to reduce the number of MPs on Thursday.

The Progressives have rescheduled their rally for February 5.

The opposition Serb Progressive Party (SNS) might dismiss deputy chairman of its main board (GO) Božidar Delić over different views on the Hague Tribunal.

The SNS presidency will decide on Delić’s fate next week and chances are that he will be “relieved of his duty”, daily Večernje Novosti reported.

SNS leader in favor of arresting Mladić

Opposition SNS party leader Tomislav Nikolić says Serbia should fulfill its obligations toward the Hague Tribunal, i.e. that Ratko Mladić should be arrested. In an interview for Belgrade newspaper Blic, Nikolić said, “I wouldn’t do it (arrest Mladić) gladly, but it’s an obligation that I would have to fulfill.“

SNS marks party’s 2nd anniversary

Opposition Serb Progressive Party (SNS) in Sunday in Belgrade marked two years since the split from the Serb Radicals (SRS). Leader Tomislav Nikolić stated on Sunday that before obtaining EU membership, Serbia needs to tackle one more important task and create an economic system which the citizens would benefit from.

United Russia, SNS parties to cooperate

Serbia’s opposition SNS party leader Tomislav Nikolić and President of the High Council of United Russia Boris Gryzlov signed a cooperation agreement. The agreement, signed on Wednesday in St. Petersburg, envisages consultations and exchange of information on current developments in Serbia and Russia, bilateral and international relations.

“SNS has accepted no alternative to EU”

Opposition DSS leader Vojislav KoÅ¡tunica said on Wednesday that the Serb Progressive Party (SNS) has obviously accepted the ruling coalition’s policy. That policy relates to the “no alternative to EU membership” approach, he explained.

A spokesman for the DSS party says that their fellow opposition Progressives (SNS), and the ruling Democrats (DS), “have a lot in common”. Petar Petković spoke during a news conference in Belgrade on Monday, and said the two parties were similar because of their position regarding the EU.
