Troicki, Kas win men’s doubles in Bangkok

Serbia’s Viktor Troicki and Germany’s Christopher Kas won the men’s doubles title at the the PTT Thailand Open tournament in Bangkok on Sunday. The Serbian-German duo defeated Israeli’s Jonathan Erlich and Austria’s Jurgen Melzer in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4.

Serbian patriarch enthroned in Kosovo

The tolling of church bells and serving of Holy Liturgy have marked the beginning of enthronement ceremony of Serbian Orthodox Christian Patriarch Irinej.

Patriarch Irinej and bishops are serving the Holy Liturgy. President Boris Tadić represents the state of Serbia at today’s ceremony.

KFOR: All precautions taken

KFOR has taken all necessary security measures ahead of enthronement of Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC) Patriarch Irinej in the Peć Patriarchate.

KFOR commander Erhard Buehler said that area surrounding the monastery and a road to Peć would be secured.

“Government to ensure safety of Pride Parade”

Civil Rights Defenders (CRD) director has stated in a letter to Serbian PM and IM that he hopes that promises regarding safety at the Pride Parade will be kept.

“Civil Rights Defenders will actively participate in the Pride Parade and oversee conduct of the Serbian state authorities during preparation of the Pride Parade,” CRD Executive Director Robert Hardh said.

Enthronement of Serbian patriarch prepared

Preparations for the ceremony of inauguration of Patriarch of the Serbian Orthodox Church Irinej in Kosovo are in their final stage. It seems almost certain that Serbian President Boris Tadić will not be the only politician at the ceremony. Leader of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) Tomislav Nikolić and former Serbian Parliament Speaker Predrag Marković confirmed their attendance.

Preparations for Sunday’s enthronement

The Kosovo government in Priština has announced they had not received a request from Serbian officials to attend the enthronement of SPC Patriarch Irinej. They added that that the religious act should not be politicized.

Two dead in traffic accident

A tow truck and a pickup truck collided near Belgrade last night, resulting in the deaths of two people, said reports. The victims were said to be two men in their mid-20s, while a Turkish citizen was also injured.

Belgrade-Bar railroad traffic to resume tomorrow

Traffic on the Belgrade-Bar railroad line is expected to resume on Friday evening, it has been announced. The disruption came after a freight train derailed late on Wednesday in central Serbia, near Kraljevo.

Police will ensure security of Pride Parade

Serbian Interior Minister Ivica Dačić stated on Thursday that the police will ensure the security of the Gay Pride Parade participants. He also called on the citizens not to use any type of violence towards the participants in this event.

City sanitation workers killed in accident

Two city sanitation company workers were killed in a traffic accident on the outskirts of Belgrade this morning.

The deadly accident involved a collision between a DAF truck and a Fiat Punto, which then swerved and hit a garbage truck.

10 years since decisive elections

200 years since Serbo-Russian victory over Turks

Street named after murdered journalist

The decision to name the second part of the Baje Pivljanina Street in Belgrade’s Dedinje neighborhood after the journalist was supported by representatives of all political parties.

Policeman finds, returns EUR 8,000

Policeman Dragan Nikolić found EUR 8,000 at a hotel ATM machine in Belgrade, and returned the money to the owner. MUP said that their officer found the money and a notebook in Russian while on duty at the Park Hotel, during the Kick-Box World Championship competition.
