“South Stream to stabilize gas supply”

German companies and Romania are showing interest in Russia’s gas pipeline project South Stream, RIA Novosti reports. The Russian news agency quoted Gazprom Chief Executive Alexei Miller on Friday.

German company may join South Stream

Wintershall, the oil and gas subsidiary of Germany’s BASF, may join the South Stream project, reports RIA Novosti. The news agency says that this could happen by the end of this year, quoting the Kommersant business daily.

South Stream could reach RS

Russia and RS have signed a document which considers the possibility that South Stream pipeline should reach the Serbian entity within Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Moscow document was signed by Prime Minister of the Republic of Srpska Milorad Dodik and Russian Minister of Energy Sergei Shamtko.

PM opens work on gas pipeline

Prime Minister Mirko Cvetković and Russian Ambassador Alexander Konuzin officially opened works on the Serbian section of the South Stream gas pipeline. The section in question is the Niš-Leskovac-Vranje part (MG-11) of the pipeline.

The land section of the South Stream gas pipeline is planned to enter Serbia’s territory in the vicinity of Zaječar, eastern Serbia.

The Republic of Srpska (RS) and Gazpromneft have reached a deal regarding the construction of a line of the South Stream gas pipeline coming from Serbia. The route of the pipeline will go from Serbia to the RS and then into the Federation of Bosnia-Herzegovina as well.
