“South Stream according to plan”

All activities related to the realization of the “pan-European project South Stream”, as far as Serbia’s participation is concern, are going as planned. This is according to Serbia’s Energy Minister Petar Å kundrić, who also said that unrelated to the planned Russian natural gas pipeline, “a national gasification plan is being implemented”.

Gazprom, Hungary set to clear way for S. Stream

Russian energy giant Gazprom and Hungary are set to sign an agreement later this month, RIA Novosti reported. The deal will clear way for building the South Stream gas pipeline across the Central European state.

Austria expected to join South Stream

Russia’s Gazprom has expressed expectations that Austria will sign an agreement on construction of the South Stream gas pipeline. South Stream, a joint project of Gazprom and Italian oil and gas company Eni, should provide transport of 63 billion cubic meters a year from 2015.

“South Stream main priority”

CEO Dušan Bajatović said that Srbijagas’ priority in 2010 is to finish the feasibility study for the South Stream gas pipeline. He said that Gazprom is expected to enter the project of building the Banatski Dvor storage facility by March 31 at the latest, which will begin the second phase of construction for the underground facility.

The point where the South Stream gas pipeline will enter Serbia is still unknown, with Zaječar in the east and Niš in the south being mentioned. This will be known after a detailed analysis of potential routes is completed, Gazprom spokesman Sergei Kupriyanov said in an interview published by the Belgrade-based daily Politika Sunday.

Russia, Bulgaria in new S. Stream talks

Russian energy giant Gazprom will hold talks with Bulgaria in January on the project to build the South Stream gas pipeline. This is according to an announcement in Moscow on Thursday from the Russian energy.

Putin: France’s EDF joins South Stream

France’s Electricite de France (EDF) has agreed with Russia’s Gazprom on its participation in the South Stream gas project, the Russian PM said on Friday. The pipeline, scheduled to be completed by 2015, is part of Russia’s efforts to cut dependence on transit nations. It is a rival project to the EU-backed Nabucco, which would bypass Russia.

Croatia eyes joining South Stream?

Croatia is close to joining the South Stream pipeline project, writes Business.hr, quoting unnamed diplomatic source. The website claims that representatives of Croatia have already spoken several times with Russians about joining this natural gas pipeline.

South Stream Serbia company established

Russian giant Gazprom and Serbia’s public gas enterprise Srbijagas signed a contract to set up a joint company – South Stream Serbia. Srbijagas General Director DuÅ¡an Bajatović confirmed that this took place on Tuesday in Bern Switzerland.

Slovenia, Russia harmonize South Stream agreement

Slovenia and Russia have harmonized an agreement for the South Stream pipeline, which is expected to be signed during the Slovenian PM’s visit to Moscow. Srbijagas promises “regular gas deliveries”

There will not be any problems with regular gas deliveries, Srbijagas CEO Dušan Bajatović has told B92.
“Ukraine will continue to have the monopoly for gas transportation in this part of Europe until the South Stream pipeline is complete, meaning that gas deliveries to Europe, including Serbia, will depend on Ukraine’s relations with Moscow,” Bajatović said.

Russia’s South Stream natural gas pipeline is “weakening” rival EU-backed Nabucco, according to the European Parliament president. Jerzy Buzek also went on to say that “all bilateral deals with Russian gas exporters are threatening EU’s interests”.

South Stream joint company expected next week

Next week will see the start of the establishment of a joint Russo-Serbian company to build the South Stream natural gas pipeline, writes daily Politika. The contract to actually set up the new company will be signed once Serbian public company Srbijagas’ property status has been determined, the Belgrade newspaper explains in an article published this Saturday.
