A man was arrested near the town of Banja Luka, RS, on suspicion that he committed genocide in Srebrenica in 1995.
The suspect was identified as Dragan Crnogorac.

Bosnian Serbs commemorate war victims

Serbs in Bratunac, eastern Bosnia, are today marking the 1992 killings of their compatriots in the region of that village and Srebrenica. This commemoration comes a day after that held for the Muslim victims in Srebrenica, killed in 1995.

Tadić attends Srebrenica commemoration

President Boris Tadić attended the ceremony marking the 15th anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide. The war crimes were committed by the Republic of Srpska (RS) Army against Muslims in Srebrenica in 1995.

EU Security and Foreign Policies Chief Catherine Ashton said that the adoption of the resolution represents an important step forward and that it is very important for the region.

Director of Humanitarian Law Fund (FHP) Nataša Kandić says the Srebrenica declaration “would in due time contribute to reduced tensions in Bosnia-Herzegovina”. “A positive side to the adoption of the declaration is that it will in due time influence a reduction of tensions in Bosnia-Herzegovina and change of opinion of the citizens of Republic of Srpska regarding Srebrenica,” she said.

The adoption of the Srebrenica declaration is an event of international importance, confirming Serbia’s significance in the region. This is according to Srebrenica Municipal President Osman Sujić, who reacted today to Tuesday’s decision made by a slim majority in the Serbian parliament.

MPs adopt Srebrenica declaration

After 13 hours of debate on Tuesday, the Serbian parliament adopted the declaration condemning the 1995 Srebrenica crime. The declaration condemned the crime against Bosniak (Muslim) residents of the town in the way determined by the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
