LSV: Statute to enter parliament soon
League of Vojvodina Social Democrats (LSV) deputy leader Bojan Kostreš says the national parliament will debate the Vojvodina statute in the next 2 or 3 weeks. Kostreš said that, finally, “the statute and the law on the transfer of authorities were nearing their culmination,†adding that the form of the document would be known in two to three weeks’ time.
DS official denies split over Vojvodina statute
The president of the Vojvodina Executive Council has denied that there is a rift within the ruling Democratic Party (DS). Bojan Pajtić, who is also a party official, said it was not true that the DS “branches in Vojvodina and Belgrade” cannot see eye to eye over the draft Vojvodina statute.

The government is expected to rubber-stamp the draft law on the transfer of Vojvodina’s authorities at its cabinet meeting next week. The Vojvodina statute will then be able to get on the national parliament’s agenda.

The Parliamentary Legislative Committee says that the draft law on the transfer of Vojvodina’s authorities is ready. The bill, which is necessary for the Vojvodina statute to be enacted, will come before the government for adoption very soon.

The head of the DS-led For a European Vojvodina MP group says changes being made to the draft Vojvodina statute “will not disturb its essence”. Dragoslav Petrović told daily Danas that all changes and agreement regarding the statute will be finished in the next two weeks.

Speaking to B92, ÄŒanak also expressed his wholehearted support for this weekend’s Pride Parade, adding, though, that he did not take this event “very seriously.“
Party in “warning” over Vojvodina statute
The LSV has warned it would withdraw its support for other bills unless the draft Vojvodina statute makes it to the parliamentary agenda. League of Social-Democrats of Vojvodina (LSV) MP Aleksandra Jerkov says that talks on the statue are underway within the coalition, and that an accompanying law, that would define the transfer of powers, is nearly finished.
“Vojvodina statute during September”
The draft Vojvodina statute and accompanying legislation should be adopted in parliament in September, IÅ¡tvan Pastor says. The leader of the Alliance of the Vojvodina Hungarians (SVM) told Belgrade daily Blic that when he last met with President Boris Tadić, “he spoke precisely about such an intention”.
Speaker: Statute on agenda in fall
Parliament Speaker Slavica Äukić-Dejanović said that the timing for introducing the Vojvodina statute to the agenda depends exclusively on the government. She told Novi Sad daily Dnevnik said that she was prepared to have the parliament work during the summer because of the draft statute, but an accompanying law on jurisdiction did not arrive from the cabinet of Prime Minister Mirko Cvetković.
