The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) is today in Strasbourg debating three more resolutions.
The PACE on Tuesday adopted Council of Europe (CoE) Rapporteur Dick Marty’s report on human organ trafficking in Kosovo, which calls for an international investigation.

Kosovo organ trafficking resolution adopted
The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) today in Strasbourg voted to adopt a resolution based on the Marty report. 169 PACE members voted in favor, while 8 voted against the document. The resolution calls on the international community and governments in Belgrade, PriÅ¡tina, as well as in Albania, to “undertake measures” in order to clear up the crimes.
Albanians submit petition, protest against Marty
A delegation of “organizations of war veterans of the KLA” was in Strasbourg on Tuesday.
They submitted a petition to Council Of Europe (CoE) Secretary General Thorbjorn Jagland, which they said contained more than 230,000 signatures collected against the Kosovo human organ trafficking report by CoE Rapporteur Dick Marty.
MEPs call for sanctions against Belarus
A call for economic sanctions against Belarus, as well as a European travel ban on the country’s political elite, euronews reports.
That is the resolution adopted by the European Parliament in Strasbourg in a protest against the crackdown and arrest of opposition demonstrators in Minsk.
MEPs approve ratification of Serbia’s SAA
Members of the European Parliament today in Strasbourg voted in favor of approving the ratification of the SAA signed between Serbia and the EU.
The voting was originally scheduled for Tuesday, but was postponed for technical reasons.
Serbia doesn’t want report “politicized”
Deputy PM Božidar Äelić told Council of Europe Secretary General Thorbjorn Jagland in Strasbourg that Serbia did not want to politicize Dick Marty’s report.
Serbia’s goal was to ensure justice for the innocent victims.
Belgrade calls on EULEX to take responsibility
Rasim Ljajić said in Strasbourg in Monday that the EU mission in Kosovo, EULEX, should assume responsibility for the Kosovo organ trade. The chairman of the National Council for Cooperation with the Hague Tribunal said that EULEX should also process as soon as possible the cases of trafficking in human organs.
Minister to discuss Marty’s report with EU officials
Head the National Council for Cooperation with the Hague Tribunal Rasim Ljajić will discuss Dick Marty’s report on Monday in Strasbourg with top EU officials.
Ljajić will meet with CoE Deputy Secretary General Maud de Boer-Buquicchio and Commissioner for Human Rights Thomas Hammarberg, his office said in a statement.

Justice minister meets EP official
Serbian Justice Minister Snežana Malović met on Tuesday in Strasbourg Secretary General of the Council of Europe Thorbjorn Jagland.
According to announcements, they will discuss the recently held Pride Parade in Belgrade and the riots that marked the event, the Justice Ministry said in a statement.
PACE adopts resolution on Kosovo
The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) adopted in Strasbourg Tuesday a resolution on Kosovo. The document outlined a neutral stand on Kosovo’s status, but also pointed to a need for greater engagement by the Council of Europe (CoE) in resolving the problems regarding the rule of law, democracy and respect of human and minority rights, said reports.
Council of Europe discusses Kosovo
The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) is today discussing the situation in Kosovo, said reports. Pieter Feith spoke about Kosovo at the European Parliament (EP) headquarters in Strasbourg in his capacity as head of the International Civilian Office (ICO) in PriÅ¡tina. He is also EU’s representative in the province.
PACE session to have Kosovo debate
The summer session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) begins in Strasbourg on Monday, and will include a debate on Kosovo.
The session, which will be closed on June 25, will also be attended by the permanent delegation of the Serbian parliament, headed by Dragoljub Mićunović.
Deputy PM in visit to European Parliament
Deputy Prime Minister Božidar Äelić will be on a working visit to the European Parliament in Strasbourg today. Äelić will be holding bilateral meetings with EP officials, to whom he will present Serbia’s progress in its European integration process and talk about the possibility to increase the speed of further steps towards EU membership.

Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremić will be in Strasbourg today on a one-day visit, it has been announced. There he will take part in the 120th meeting of the Council of Europe Committee of Ministers, the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.

Leonard Cohen Reschedules European Performances Due To Injury

AEG Worldwide has announced that a run of performances by Leonard Cohen have been rescheduled to allow proper time for a sports-related injury sustained by the artist to heal.
While exercising recently, Mr. Cohen suffered a compression injury in his lower back. He has been advised by physicians to follow the typical four to six month regime of physical therapy prescribed for athletes with similar injuries.
“Doctors have confirmed that Mr. Cohen is otherwise in terrific shape, thanks to years of exercise and careful diet, and simply needs appropriate time to recover from the lower back injury,” stated Cohen’s manager, Robert Kory.
Since his return to the stage in May 2008, Mr. Cohen has played 191 sold out shows around the world, headlined the 2009 Coachella Music Festival and was hailed by Spin Magazine as the “Comeback of the Year” for 2009.
On January 30, Mr. Cohen received the 2010 Lifetime Achievement Special Merit Award from the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences (NARAS) and was honored the following night on the Grammy Awards broadcast.

Spanish PM on Greek initiative for W. Balkans
Spanish PM and EU Chairman Jose Luis Zapatero said in Strasbourg that “attention should be given†to a Greek initiative regarding Western Balkans. The initiative envisages the EU accession of the countries in the region in 2014.
Bosnia discriminates against Jews, Roma, says court
The European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg has condemned Bosnia-Herzegovina over a controversial ban. This country is preventing members of its Roma and Jewish communities from becoming members of the Presidency of Bosnia-Herzegovina and the House of Peoples of the state parliament.
