Ex-minister accused of corruption

Stanko Subotić aka Cane accused on Wednesday former Interior Minister Dušan Mihajlović of accepting his money.
Subotić is wanted in Serbia on cigarette smuggling charges, and his representatives held a press conference in Belgrade to say that Mihajlović received a quarter of a million euros in 2003.

Fugitive businessman starts website

Fugitive controversial businessman Stanko Subotić said started a personal website to help salvage his reputation and property. Subotić said that the site will “stop a number of people who are trying to destroy him and take his property.”

Subotić expands on recent remarks

Stanko Subotić aka Cane spoke to Podgorica-based TV In last night on his relationships with prominent Serbian businessmen. Subotić, indicted in Serbia for organizing cigarette smuggling in the 1990s and often described as a controversial businessmen, answered questions from Geneva regarding loans allegedly given to Delta Holding owner Miroslav Mišković and Milan Beko, worth EUR 50mn.

Reporter: Subotić not funding B92

B92 journalist Jugoslav Ćosić denied speculation Stanko Subotić aka Cane funds both him and the B92 media company. He said that a court process will be launched regarding the statements made by Montenegrin opposition leader Nebojša Medojević, adding that he did not make a mistake by letting Subotić call in and speak during a show he was hosting in which Medojević was the guest.

“Crime bosses held series of meetings”

A daily writes that suspected crime bosses Stanko Subotić and Darko Šarić held a series of meetings in Montenegro, Switzerland and France over the last year. Subotić, aka Cane, accused of leading a cigarette smuggling ring, and Šarić, who is accused of smuggling 2.7 tons of cocaine into the region, were in constant communication, and meeting almost every month, a Blic daily source stated.

Subotić involved in cocaine smuggling?

A new investigation against Stanko Subotić aka Cane is in the works, Belgrade daily Blic writes today. Subotić is already accused in Serbia of taking part in cigarette smuggling operations, and could now be investigated for involvement in cocaine smuggling, along with Darko Šarić.

“Prosecution to verify Subotić allegations”

Special Prosecutor for Organized Crime Miljko Radisavljević says allegations made by “controversial businessman” Stanko Subotić, aka Cane, will be verified. Subotić, indicted in Serbia for his role in the 1990s cigarette smuggling operations, said in a phone-in a B92 TV live talk show on Monday evening that money that he was owed was used to finance the purchase of the Port of Belgrade company and Belgrade-based daily Večernje Novosti.

Delta, daily deny Subotić’s allegations

Delta Holding is completely rejecting all allegations made by Stanko Subotić on B92 TV regarding joint investments with the controversial businessman. The private company owned by Miroslav MiÅ¡ković, stated that it has never had joint investments with Subotić, who is an alleged criminal, pointing out that it was “even less true that it had incurred debt to him”.

Police, prosecution silent on Subotić accusations

Serbia’s police and prosecution have not made any statements regarding the accusations heard from Stanko Subotić aka Cane. In a B92 TV program on Monday evening, hosted by journalist Jugoslav Ćosić, Subotić phoned in to accuse that Delta Holding owner Miroslav MiÅ¡ković and businessman Milan Beko used his money – EUR 50mn of it – to buy Port of Belgrade and Belgrade-based daily Večernje Novosti.
