ST Engineering’s marine unit sets up Brunei subsidiary

ST Engineering today announced that STSE Engineering Services (STSE) has incorporated a wholly-owned subsidiary, STSE Engineering Services (B) Sdn Bhd (STSEB), in Brunei.

STSE is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Singapore Technologies Marine, the marine arm of ST Engineering.

CWT sets up futures commission merchant subsidiary

CWT, the provider of integrated logistics solutions, today announced the formation of a new company, Straits Financial LLC, to clear futures and derivatives trades for its clients. Presently, the company is in the process of registering with the National Futures Association (NFA) as a United States Futures Commission Merchant (FCM) and applying for clearing memberships with the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) and the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT).

United Engineers subsidiary gets $220m loan facilities

United Engineers said a unit has procured and accepted term loan facilities totalling $220 million from Malayan Banking Bhd, Oversea-Chinese Banking Corp Ltd and the Hongkong & Shanghai Banking Corp to finance a project at Changi Business Park.

Singtel’s subsidiary NCS CEO to retire

The chief executive of NCS, a subsidiary of Singapore Telecommunications (STEL.SI), will retire on July 14, the parent company said in a statement.

Lim Eng, who is 54 and has worked in Singtel for 30 years, will be replaced by Chief Operating Officer NCS Chia Wee Boon.

NCS provides IT and communication engineering services and has offices across Asia, serving clients in banking, healthcare, aviation and education sectors.

Singtel’s CEO for international operations Lim Chuan Poh is also set to retire at the end of this year, the company announced earlier in June.

Morgan Stanley’s subsidiary buys more Parkway shares

UK-based FrontPoint Management LLP, a unit of Morgan Stanley (MS.N), bought 110,000 more shares of Parkway Holdings (PARM.SI) at $3.85 a share for an investment client, the bank said in an exchange filing.

This adds to the 75,000 Parkway shares that FrontPoint bought last week at $3.83 a share for a “discretionary investment client”.

Morgan Stanley says subsidiary buys Parkway shares

UK-based FrontPoint Management LLP, a unit of Morgan Stanley <MS.N>, has bought 75,000 shares of Parkway Holdings <PARM.SI>, Asia’s biggest listed hospital operator, for $3.83 a share for an investment client, the bank said in an exchange filing.

Hearst Subsidiary, LG, Sprint Team for Skiff E-Reader at CES

Hearst subsidiary Skiff will roll out an e-reader at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas later this week with an 11.5-inch touch screen based on a flexible sheet of stainless-steel foil, a device whose size and flexibility the company hopes will make it an appealing way for users to read newspapers and other periodicals electronically. Sprint will provide 3G connectivity for the device, whose price point has not yet been announced. Despite being termed a niche product by some analysts, e-readers saw their popularity soar in 2009.

Austrian govt. to take over subsidiary of German bank

Austria is moving to nationalize Hypo Group Alpe Adria (HGAA), the country’s sixth largest bank. HGAA’s current owners, however, including Bavaria’s state bank, will contribute over a billion euros to the deal.

Fraser & Neave says its subsidiary, Times Publishing Limited (TPL) has entered into a conditional sale and purchase agreement to sell its 100% shareholding interest in Times Educational Services (TES), a wholly-owned subsidiary of TPL, for an aggregate consideration of US$200,000 ($277,292).

NeraTel unit wins $7.1m contract from Filipino telco for microwave transmission equipment

Nera Telecommunications says its wholly-owned subsidiary, Nera (Philippines), Inc., has received orders from a cellular operator in the Philippines to supply, deliver, install and maintain Microwave Transmission Equipment.

The purchase orders have an aggregate value of $7.1 million.
