UNMIK is ready to fully support a probe into the Kosovo organ trafficking, the latest report of UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon says, according to reports. It also expresses the expectation that progress will soon be made towards opening the Belgrade-Priština dialogue which has not yet begun due to the toppling of the Kosovo government.

GIC buys European rescue debt, May support further bond sales

Government of Singapore Investment Corp., a sovereign wealth fund with US$100 billion ($128.4 billion) of reserves, bought some of the European debt issued to finance Ireland’s bailout, Deputy Chairman Tony Tan said.

“We believe the bond is relatively safe given how it’s structured and it gives us reasonable yield,” Tan said in an interview at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. GIC will consider buying more European rescue debt in future sales, he said.

“OSCE should support investigation”

OSCE should support an international investigation into human organ trade in Kosovo, Russian Permanent Representative to the OSCE Anvar Azimov said Friday.

“The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) adopted on January 25 a resolution urging international agencies, including EULEX, to conduct the investigation with the assistance of member countries of the Council of Europe and disregard the official positions possible suspects might have,” he said.

Serbian FM urges African Union support

Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremić thanked on Thursday African countries for their support to Serbia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. He also urged them to support an investigation into the allegations presented in the report on human organ trafficking in Kosovo.

STI +0.1% midday; Keppel, NOL gains support

The STI is +0.1% at 3224.04 midday, off its early 3208 low, helped by gains in NOL (N03.SG), which is +3.7% at $2.26 after a string of recent declines, and Keppel Corp. (BN4.SG), +3.0% at $12.28, still riding the positive reaction to 4Q results Tuesday.

Volume is modest at 874 million shares worth $817 million, with decliners and gainers evenly matched in the broad market.

STI slumps at 1.1%; 3200 support should hold – DBS Vickers

Singapore’s STI is down 1.1% at 3206.11, tracking broad declines across the region, which are led by the Shanghai Composite Index’s 2.9% fall on unabated concerns over further tightening measures from Beijing, which would put the brakes on the world’s second largest economy.

“Singapore’s equities are reacting in response to near term weakness in Shanghai,” says Yeo Kee Kian, a market strategist with DBS Vickers.
