Organ trafficking investigator invited to EP

Council of Europe (CoE) rapporteur Dick Marty has been invited to address the European Parliament Foreign Affairs Committee. Tanjug news agency previously reported that it had learned unofficially that EP MPs invited Marty to testify on his report regarding the Kosovo organ trafficking case.

Another blast in K. Mitrovica, no victims reported

A blast which rocked northern Kosovska Mitrovica early on Thursday caused material damage, but fortunately no one was injured. Commander of the police station in Kosovska Mitrovica Bratislav Kragović told the Tanjug news agency that two cars were damaged in the incident, one of which belongs to a member of the Kosovo Police Service (KPS).

Gazprom on S. Stream’s Serbia route

The land section of the South Stream gas pipeline is planned to enter Serbia’s territory in the vicinity of Zaječar, eastern Serbia.

EIB approves 32 regional infrastructure projects

The European Investment Bank (EIB) has approved another 32 local and regional infrastructure projects in Serbia. The projects are part of the bank’s “Let’s Build Together” program, in which EUR 150 million would be invested in local and regional infrastructure in Serbia over the next two years, the National Investment Plan Ministry told the Tanjug news agency.

Serbia, Turkey abolish visa regime

The Serbian government abolished visas for Turkish citizens and vice versa, according to a statement given to the Tanjug news agency. According to the statement, the government discussed the issue and agreed that visas for Turkish visitors should be abolished on Friday.

Minister urges reconstruction of govt.

Labor Minister Rasim Ljajić said that he believes that the government is too big and that it should be reconstructed. “The governments of European countries, by rule, resort to a reconstruction of the government at the halfway point of their mandates, and we have an added reason to do this, which is the economic crisis,” Ljajić told the Tanjug news agency.

“KFOR won’t interfere in political processes”

KFOR commander Markus Bentler says that the NATO-led mission will not interfere in the political processes in Kosovo. According to a Tanjug news agency report today, the German general pointed out that KFOR was impartial and that, according to UN SC Resolution 1244, its duty was to secure a safe environment in all parts of Kosovo.

LDP: Initiatives for early elections are destructive

Gnjilane: Suspect tried to bring bomb into school

The Kosovo Police Service stated that it has arrested a Serb man who was trying to bring a bomb into a school in the village of Kusce, near Gnjilane. KPS regional spokesperson Ismet Hashani told the Tanjug news agency that a school worker first noticed the man with a bomb in his hand, reacted quickly and was able to take the explosive away from the suspect, after which he called the police.

Serbia’s EU bid to be discussed Jan. 26

Serbia will be informed about the EU member states attitude toward its candidacy bid and the next steps that are to be taken, the Spanish ambassador says. “We have started consultations with EU member states on Serbia’s demand and on January 26, EU is to meet with Serbia at the ministerial level and we believe that Serbia will be given a clear insight into our position and which are further steps in view of Serbia’s EU candidacy application,” Inigo de Palacio Espana Tanjug news agency.

Dačić: Serbia loyal partner to China

Deputy PM and Interior Minister Ivica Dačić said in Shenzhen on Thursday that Serbia was “a loyal partner to China”. Police prevent smuggling of drugs

Police have arrested four persons suspected smuggling five kilos of cocaine via DHL mail from South America to Serbia, Interior Minister Ivica Dačić said. “Five kilos of cocaine, which were hidden in a DHL envelope sent from Paraguay, were seized in the raid,” Dačić told the Tanjug news agency, adding that the leader of the criminal group Nebojša Lukić and three more persons have been arrested.

Three children die in K. Mitrovica accident

Three children between the ages of seven and 14 were killed in an accident in Kosovska Mitrovica when a truck crashed into a home. The accident was confirmed for the Tanjug news agency by regional spokesperson of the Kosovo Police Service Besim Hoti.
