Google Nexus One Reviewed, Android Tablet on Tap
Engadget’s Joshua Topolsky chronicled his unboxing of the Google Nexus One and confirmed much of what has already been reported. He shows how a Milky Way-like wallpaper swirls on the screen by itself and reacts to finger swipes. From there, he shows off a new weather and news widget; jumps from any one of five screens (also new) to the next by pressing and holding down a button on the touch screen; and scrolls through the new icon menu. Schumpeter: Talent on tap
The fashion for hiring temps has reached the executive suite
TEMPORARY work is all too familiar to the masses. Farmers have always relied on seasonal workers to plough the fields and pick the crops. Companies have been hiring temps to answer the phones and do the filing for as long as anyone can remember. Now a new group of people are experiencing the joys of the flexible economy: the managerial elite.
The practice of appointing interim bosses actually originated in Europe some years ago as a way of coping with the continent’s rigid employment laws. No with-it company can be taken seriously without a “flexible boardroom” and a “just-in-time talent pipeline”. …

Nervous About Link Journalism? Ignore Web’s ‘Cesspool’ And Tap Its ‘Natural Spring’
There are several reasons why most mainstream news organizations have been slow to embrace link journalism.
First, news orgs typically act as though other news orgs don’t exist (blame long-standing notions of “owning” the news, and more recent unjustified fears of sending readers away). Second, news orgs had few mechanisms for breaking out of that walled-garden [...]
