Todd Snider: The Storyteller

DOUBLE LIVE ALBUM OUT FEBRUARY 1 2011

Last year, Todd Snider
released The Excitement Plan, called the “finest album of his career” by the Associated Press and
“brilliant” by The New Yorker. Now, his own imprint Aimless Records will release The
Storyteller
a new double-disc live album out Feb 1, which captures
Snider in his true element: onstage before a rapt audience.

On The Storyteller, you’ll hear some of Todd’s off-the-cuff and downright hilarious folkloric tales and
meditations on contemporary culture, plus all your favorite tracks from recent years, as backed by Great American Taxi during a recent
performance in Nashville. Along with many of his most beloved tunes, including standouts like
“Tension” and “Rose City,” the 24 tracks on the The Storyteller capture Snider’s candid takes on the personal
and
the political, from marijuana legalization and gay rights, to “Conservative Christian, Right-Wing Republican, Straight,
White, American Males.”

For a glimpse of Snider’s sense of humor, watch this live video clip of him below introducing his own concert as a

Jason D. Williams: Killer Instinct Todd Snider Produces

FIRST ALBUM IN SIX YEARS OUT OCTOBER 26

Jason D. Williams

In expressing his joy at the chance to produce a Jason D. Williams album, Todd Snider says, “I’d been waiting 15 years on this
phone call.” The Arkansas piano player retorts, “I’d been waiting 15 years to make this
phone call.”

Snider had to put on his producer hat right away. After a day of working on the cover songs that Williams had
prepared, the session was not working. So the duo started writing on the fly. Williams says, “All of a sudden, our
agenda went to hell and we were just creating in there. Todd made me feel like it was ok to reach down and sing
something crazy. It was just short of amazing and magical.”

Killer Instinct was recorded at Blackbird Studios in Nashville, TN and mixed at the famous Ardent
Studios in Memphis, TN. Dan Baird, Keith Christopher, Richard Leo Johnson and Randy Cox also
joined in on the fun.

Tracklisting:

1. Like Jerry Lee
2. Big Red Green One

3. If You Ever Saw a Baby With It’s Pud
4. You Look Like I Could Use a Drink

5. Wine So-Dee-O-Dee
6. Daddy’s Lil’ Punkin
7. White Trash
8. What Am I Gonna Do
9. Really Really Pretty
10. Sanctified

JamBase Questionnaire: Big Head Todd

Welcome back to JamBase’s baker’s dozen to the bright lights of the music world. Last time we heard from Nathan Moore.

“Open me up and turn my life around/ Let the sun shine in and shook me off the ground/ Fallen apart, somehow you kept it together/ Kept me from drifting into stormy weather.”

Thus begins the new album from Big Head Todd and the Monsters entitled Rocksteady (released July 20). It’s another pretty seamless mix of adult pop, blues riffs and smooth grooves from the long-lived Colorado band, which has survived and even thrived as a unit well past their string of 90s hits. With a lineup that’s remained steady while their peers played musical compatriots, Todd Park Mohr (vocals, guitar), Rob Squires (bass, vocals), Brian Nevin (drums, vocals) and Jeremy Lawton (keyboards, steel guitars, vocals) exhibit an overlapping, communicative energy on Rocksteady, which frequently explores the things that build up and shake our faith, offering hope and harmony at a time when both are in short supply. It’s the work of pros that sound like they’re enjoying making music now as much as ever. And they spank Howlin’ Wolf’s “Smokestack Lightning,” too, so one’s blues get a workout as well, not to mention a sauntering, wistful cover of the Stones’ “Beast of Burden.” (Dennis Cook)

Here’s what Todd Park Mohr had to say to our inquiries.

Todd Park Mohr by David Boothroy

Nicknames: “Big Head” or simply “Big”

Instrument of choice: Telecaster guitar

1. Great music rarely happens withoutÂ…
Musicians listening to each other, and an appreciative audience listening to musicians

2. The first album I bought wasÂ…
The Grease soundtrack, followed by Aretha Franklin’s Live at the Fillmore West

3. The last song or album to really flip my wig wasÂ…
Radiohead OK Computer

4. When I was a kid I wanted to grow up to beÂ…
A doctor or any kind of athlete

5. My favorite sort of gig isÂ…
A mid-sized theater with good sound, and an audience that doesn’t have much knowledge of the band so they need to be won over.

6. One thing I wish people knew about me isÂ…
That I really prefer to be left alone and to not be known at all…but oh well, I am an entertainer after all.

7. I love the sound ofÂ…
Wind and water running through a canyon

8. One day I hope to make an album as fantastic asÂ…
Well, as fantastic as Elton John’s Captain Fantastic of course!

9. The best meal I ever had on tour was atÂ…
Grits and shrimp in Oxford, Mississippi

10. I always find the coolest audiences inÂ…
Colorado at Red Rocks Amphitheatre

11. The worst habit I’ve picked up being on the road all the time isÂ…
Sleeping at all times of the day and night

12. The Beatles or the Stones? Por que?
Rolling Stones for me because of the roughshod blues influence of Muddy Waters and Howlin Wolf! The Beatles are more well, Chubby Checker.

13. The craziest thing I ever saw wasÂ…
A large herd of elk, maybe 50 head, running right through the middle of the road I was driving on.

Video Slow Down and Playback Analysis Product Entries Into The Consumer Market Posted By : James Todd

Software that manipulates the playback of video has been around for quite a while, but it is not as common as you might think. Recently, similar software has been developed and used as a practice tool for musicians, tennis players, dancers and golfers, essentially anyone that uses video as part of their training, instruction or lessons.
