OSCE praises efforts against human trafficking

OSCE mission chief to Serbia Dimitrios Kypreos has praised the government’s efforts in combating human trafficking.

Ahead of October 18, European Day Against Human Trafficking, Kypreos said that “the OSCE mission fully supports efforts by the Serbian authorities to conduct a national strategy in combating human trafficking.”

Teenage girls organized human trafficking

Local police in Sombor have filed criminal charges against two girls aged 14 and 16, natives of the Vojvodina, northern Serbia, town. The pair, identified with their initials S.L. and K.N., are suspected of organizing human trafficking.

70 human trafficking victims this year

In the first six months of the year in Serbia, 70 victims of human trafficking have been uncovered and 42 people have been arrested, five of which were women. Human trafficking, mostly of children and women, is one of the most widespread criminal activities in the world of organized crime.

CoE organ case rapporteur ends Belgrade visit

Dick Marty, the Council of Europe’s special rapporteur in the Kosovo human organ trafficking case, today ends his two-day visit to Belgrade. Marty will meet with War Crimes Prosecutors Vladimir Vukčević, the families of the kidnapped and missing Serbs from Kosovo, and the government’s Commission for the Missing Persons President Veljko Odalović.
