Honduras recognizes Kosovo

Honduras has recognize Kosovo’s independence, according to the foreign ministry in Priština. Honduras is the 70th country to recognize Kosovo’s unilateral independence proclamation.

Jeremić thanks Pakistan for support

Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremić thanked Pakistan for its support and for not recognizing the unilateral independence of Kosovo, daily Blic stated. “We are thankful for the solidarity and support,” Jeremić said in an interview with Pakistan’s most prominent English-language daily Dawn.

Tadić thanks Egypt over Kosovo

President Boris Tadić met on Sunday in Belgrade with Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Aboul Gheit. Tadić expressed his gratitude for Egypt’s decision not to recognize the unilateral independence declaration made by Kosovo’s Albanians two years ago.

Jeremić: Chances good at ICJ

FM Vuk Jeremić says there is a very good chance that the International Court of Justice will rule that Kosovo’s unilateral independence declaration was illegal.
“We’re hopeful. We’re confident of the strength of our legal arguments and it would be hard to impose political views on that court,“ Jeremić told France Presse.

Slovak PM: No recognition of Kosovo

Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico says there is no reason for his country to change its position on Kosovo’s unilateral independence. “Our position on Kosovo is not just a matter of affection towards Serbia, nor does it have anything to do with our position towards the U.S. or Russia,” Fico told a joint press conference after meeting with Serbian Prime Minister Mirko Cvetković.

Jeremić: Morocco won’t recognize Kosovo

Morocco will not recognize Kosovo and will continue to oppose its unilateral independence in all international fora, FM Vuk Jeremić said in Rabat today. After talks with the Moroccan leadership, Jeremić said that Rabat had consolidated “its position on not recognizing Kosovo,” adding that Belgrade and Rabat would continue to cooperate on this issue on the international arena.

Kosovo to lobby at UN General Assembly

Kosovo presidential adviser Xhavit Beqiri says that Kosovo officials will be lobbying at the UN General Assembly for new recognitions. According to electronic media in Priština, Beqiri said that Kosovo President Fatmir Sejdi and foreign policy chief Skender Hyseni would be lobbying states at the General Assembly that have not so far recognized the province’s unilateral independence declaration.

“Recognizing Kosovo speeded up EU integration”

Montenegrin Foreign Minister Milan Roćen says that Podgorica’s European integration has accelerated since the recognition of Kosovo’s unilateral independence. Responding to an MP’s question on what benefit Montenegro had had from recognizing Kosovo, Roćen said that it had confirmed that Montenegro was a reliable neighbor ready to cooperate with everyone, and that it had bolstered its foreign policy credibility.

Thaci: Belgrade considering recognition

Kosovo Prime Minister Hashim Thaci says that Belgrade has begun considering recognizing Kosovo’s unilateral independence. Serbian Kosovo Minister Goran Bogdanović called Thaci’s statements a marketing ploy.

Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremić will be attending the summit of the Non-Aligned Movement in the Egyptian resort of Sharm-el-Sheikh over the next three days. Jeremić said that Serbia would be battling against intense pressure on Non-Aligned member-states to recognize Kosovo’s unilateral independence declaration.
