Union leader: State will face bankruptcy

Independence Union President Branislav ÄŒanak says the state will face bankruptcy once faced with “demands from all unions”. “At one point the government will have many demands in front of it, and after answering those demands, the state will have to declare bankruptcy of that company called Serbia,” ÄŒanak told Radio B92 in Belgrade on Wednesday.

Union members take over arms plant offices

Members of the Nezavisnost workers union took over the headquarters of Zastava Arms, a weapons manufacturer in Kragujevac, central Serbia. This came because the authorities are refusing to recognize the association as the representative of the workers, the protesters said.

Phillip starts Overseas Union Enterprise at Buy

Phillip Securities initiates coverage on Overseas Union Enterprise (LJ3.SG) at Buy with a $4.28 target price with zero premium/discount applied to RNAV, representing 18.9% upside over Friday’s closing price.

It says OUE’s revenue is strengthened with the acquisition of DBS Towers in August 2010. It notes “FY11 earnings will be further reinforced by the completion of two Grade-A office buildings – OUE Bayfront in 1Q11 and One Raffles Place Tower Two in 2H11, and recognition of sales from residential development Twin Peaks.”

Overseas Union sets up $1b medium-term notes program

Overseas Union Enterprise  established a $1 billion  multi-currency, medium- term note program, according to a Singapore stock exchange announcement.

 

Standard Chartered Plc has been hired to arrange any sales, the proceeds of which could be used for general working capital or to refinance debt, the statement said.

Overseas Union Enterprise started at Buy by UOB KayHian

UOB KayHian initiates Overseas Union Enterprise (LJ3.SG) at Buy with a $4.25 target price, pegged at parity to FY11F RNAV, offering about 25% upside from current levels.

The house forecasts minimum FY11-12 yield of 2.6% and 3.3% based on a 50% dividend payout, adding the stock is an “attractive developer play on office upcycle.”

France: New protests

French union workers have staged another round of protests against a new pension bill that raises the country’s minimum retirement age from 60 to 62.

Officials say 375,000 people turned out for rallies across France Saturday, down sharply from the half-a-million who turned out for the last major demonstration October 28.

Police union wants investigation

The Serbian police union criticized today command-level decisions made during Sunday’s anti-gay riots in Belgrade. The union also requested that the police (MUP) conduct an investigation into this, and said they were not satisfied with security estimates concerning the Pride Parade in Belgrade.
