United Overseas Bank to merge Indonesia subsidiaries

United Overseas Bank, Singapore’s second-largest lender by market value, said its two bank subsidiaries in Indonesia, PT Bank UOB Indonesia and PT Bank UOB Buana will merge to comply with local central bank policy, reported Bloomberg. PT Bank UOB Buana will be the surviving entity from the merger, according to a statement to the Singapore stock exchange.

United Overseas Insurance posts 138% rise in net profit to $23.1m for full year

United Overseas Insurance posted a 137.7% rise in net profit to $23.14 million for the full year ended Dec 31 2009 (FY2009) compared to $9.73 million for FY2008. million4th Quarter 2009 (“4Q09”) versus 4th Quarter 2008 (“4Q08”)

Gross premiums increased marginally by 1.7% or $1.4 million to $84.5 million when compared to that of last year. In the previous year, gross premiums had benefited from a one-time adjustment of $1.7 million. Without that adjustment, gross premiums would have been higher by $3.1 million, reflecting the strengthening economy.

Tadić: Kosovo cannot join United Nations

Rigbuilder Keppel Corp (KPLM.SI) will be in focus of investors’ radar today after it announced a US$1 billion ($1.4 million) project in Brazil yesterday, say Thomson Reuters.
Keppel, the world’s biggest oil rig builder, said on Monday it has won a $1 billion contract with a joint venture partner to build and operate a rig platform in Brazillian waters.
The contract is Keppel’s largest rig deal in over two years and will bolster the firm’s order book, which has been falling over the past year and stood at US$5.6 billion ($7.9 billion) at end-December.

United Envirotech posts 384% rise in net profit to $5.2m in 3Q

Mainboard-listed United Envirotech, one of the leading membrane-based water and wastewater treatment solutions providers, says it posted a 383.6% y-o-y increase in net profit of $5.2 million in 3QFY2010.

On the back of higher engineering income and recurring treatment revenue, the group recorded $18.8 million revenue in 3QFY2010, representing 114.3% y-o-y increase in revenue.
