Brammmertz sends report to UNSC

The chief prosecutor of the Hague Tribunal, Serge Brammertz, sent a regular report to the UN Security Council on Wednesday.
Beta news agency reported that in it, he evaluated Serbia’s cooperation in the search for the remaining war crimes suspects – Ratko Mladić and Goran Hadžić.

Obama backs India for permanent UNSC seat

U.S. President Barack Obama says he supports a reformed United Nations Security Council that includes India as a permanent member.
In a nod to India’s rise as a global power, Mr. Obama told India’s parliament that America seeks a United Nations that is efficient, effective, credible and legitimate and “that is why” he backs India becoming a permanent member. He spoke in New Delhi on Monday, the third and final day of his visit to India.

UNSC Kosovo session on Nov. 12

The UN Security Council will hold session on Kosovo on November 12, the UN Secretariat told Tanjug Tuesday. UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has welcomed in his latest quarterly report to the UN Security Council the announcement that the dialogue between Belgrade and Priština will begin soon, and expressed readiness on behalf of the UN to back the talks in close cooperation with the EU.

“UNSC veto, Serbia’s new Kosovo tactic”

If Serbia’s Kosovo draft fails to garner support at the UN General Assembly this fall, Belgrade will shift the focus of its fight for Kosovo to another UN body. This is according to daily Večernje Novosti, which said that the plan was to turn to the UN Security Council, where the country is supported by permanent members Russia and China, who, in turn, have a right to veto any decision.

Tadić to address UNSC on Kosovo

President Boris Tadić will be in New York on January 22 where he will attend a UN Security Council session dedicated to Kosovo. This is according to a report in Belgrade daily Politika, which says that Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremić will also attend the debate.
