Microsoft, Ford Unveil Electric Car Plans, Lincoln MKZ Hybrid

Microsoft and Ford announced that the Detroit automaker will use Microsoft Hohm, a software platform that allows users to monitor their home energy use, to make electrical vehicles more efficient. Specifically, Ford drivers will be able to use the cloud-based management tool to determine how, when and where to plug in their electric vehicles, such as during off-peak hours. Ford CEO Alan Mulally says his company will offer five new hybrid vehicles by 2012.
