HSBC upgrades Olam to Overweight; $3.63 target

HSBC upgrades Olam International (O32.SG) to Overweight from Neutral, and keeps its target at $3.63. Phillip upgrades SIA to ‘buy’ from ‘hold’

Singapore Airlines reported lower third quarter net profit, hit by provisions for fines by the European Commission and South Korean regulator, as well as a settlement with US authorities on cargo price-fixing charges.

Phillip said that if the non-recurring cargo fines of $199.1 million were removed, SIA’s profit after tax and minority interests actually increased 21% year-on-year to $487.4 million.

RBS upgrades Tiger Airways to “hold” from “sell”

RBS has upgraded Singapore budget carrier Tiger Airways (TAHL.SI) to “hold” from “sell” and raised its target price to $1.90 from $1.58.

Tiger Airways said on Friday its third quarter net profit rose 60% to $22.6 million due to stronger passenger volumes and higher average passenger fares.

RBS upgrades DBS Group (D05.SG) to Buy from sell, and raises its target to S$16.50 from S$11.50. It says “DBS’s shares have been broadly flat for about a year now. As is well established, this reflects relatively weak underlying pre-impairment profit delivery (3.7% for FY10F and minus 0.6% for FY11F) on the back of historically low Sibor.”

UBS upgrades SingTel to Buy from Neutral

UBS upgrades SingTel (Z74.SG) to Buy from Neutral, raises its target to $3.53 from $3.40; after SingTel’s shares underperformed the MSCI AXJ Telecom Index and Singapore market by 11% in 2010. 

“We expect SingTel to perform better in 2011 driven by an improving outlook for (associate) Bharti Airtel.” The house tips the regulatory and competitive environment to improve for Bharti this year, noting SingTel’s 32% stake accounts for 28% of SingTel’s price target, while both stocks have historically shown good correlation.

DMG upgrades SGX to Buy, ups FY12 volume view

DMG upgrades Singapore Exchange (S68.SG) to Buy from Neutral and raises its target price to $9.45 from $8.33. The house says SGX’s share price underperformed over the past year, but could outperform ahead.

The house raises its fiscal FY12 average daily turnover assumption by 8% to $1.90 billion on expectations trading volumes will rise, “given increased interest in market developments in the U.S. and EU, and on the domestic front.”

R H Energy awarded $11.4m in contracts to design plant upgrades

Mainboard-listed R H Energy says it has won contracts worth US$8.7 million ($11.4 million), to provide process engineering design, technical services and commissioning for the upgrading of a caprolactum plant with an annual production capacity of 200,000 tonnes and a special epoxy plant with an annual production capacity of 50,000 tonnes for the Sinopec group companies.
