SembMarine’s Sembawang Shipyard secures 2 FPSO conversion and upgrading contracts worth $75m
Sembcorp Marine’s Sembawang Shipyard has secured two FPSO contracts worth $75 million.
The first contract is awarded by BW Offshore, one of the world’s leading FPSO contractors and a market leader with advanced offshore loading and production systems for the oil and gas industry.
The contract calls for the conversion of a 97,172 dwt tanker BW Genie into a Floating Production Unit (FPU). Major conversion works include repairs and life extension for the vessel to operate for another 20 years. The FPU will be installed in the field through a new 12-point mooring system.

Sembcorp Marine says subsidiary Sembawang Shipyard has secured major upgrading and repair contracts worth $110 million.
Sembawang Shipyard, the ship repairer of cruise ships in the Far East, was recently awarded two upgrading contracts for passenger/ferry ships.
The first contract involves an upgrading project from Interislander, a division of Kiwirail, New Zealand for the lengthening and dry-docking repairs of its Ro-Pax Ferry, Aratere.

After more than a month of delays, Verizon Wireless will begin upgrading its popular Motorola Droid mobile device to Version 2.1 of Google’s Android operating system March 18. A Motorola spokesperson tells eWEEK the upgrade is being deployed to a small number of Verizon Wireless test users tomorrow afternoon, with a broader rollout to all Droid users coming shortly thereafter.
