CeSID: Support for EU growing thanks to visas

CeSIDProgram Director Marko Blagojević said that support for EU integration in Serbia is growing thanks to the announced visa liberalization. According to Deutsche Welle radio, Blagojević said that only 14 percent of the Serbian population is against joining the EU, while 71 percent supports Serbia’s integration into the Union.

Serbians to travel without visas starting Dec. 19?

The EU Council of Ministers has harmonized its position to cancel visas imposed on the citizens of Serbia, Montenegro and Macedonia on Dec. 19, Beta reports. The news agency is quoting its sources in Brussels who said that this was a unanimous position taken by EU states’ ambassadors with the Permanent Representatives Committee.

“Serbia could introduce visas for black list countries”

Daily Danas writes that harmonizing the Serbian visa regime with the EU “means introducing visas for those countries which require EU visas”. “Serbia does not have to introduce visas for some countries which the EU has a strict visa regime for right after getting on the white Schengen list, but it would be good to do this as soon as possible,” former director of the government Office for European Integration Tanja Miščević told the Belgrade newspaper.

U.S. Scientists See H1-B Visas as Major Issue Against Progress, Says Survey

A new survey by the Pew Research Center has found that, while the American public holds a high opinion of scientists, a minority feel that U.S. scientific achievements are best in the world.
