VoxOx upgraded the software’s personal assistant feature with new remote management features, some of which Google Voice and BT’s Ribbit don’t have. From their mobile phones, users can now check their voicemail, dial any number, make outbound conference calls, change their greeting and their PIN numbers, transfer to free directory assistance, and change their SMS Callback settings. Ribbit brought its cloud computing phone application to the mobile device sector Nov. 3 in the form of Ribbit Mobile, which lets users manage calls and messages to mobile phones from their computers. Ribbit Mobile aims to challenge existing Web services such as Google Voice and VoxOx, and offers many of the same services as those products. However, Ribbit features a third-party developer platform to enable programmers to build applications that extend the Ribbit Mobile platform.

VoxOx from TelCentris lets users make calls from PC to PC, as well as from PCs to landlines and mobile phones. The Web application, geared to compete with Skype and Google Voice, also enables video, instant messaging and two-way text messaging, file sharing and social networking into one platform.
