Singapore’s benchmark Straits Times Index (.FTSTI) fell 0.47% to end at 2,749.15 points yesterday. Wee Hur doubles net profit to $16.3m for FY09

Wee Hur Holdings, the BCA Grade A1 builder and property developer, doubled its net profit to $16.3 million for its financial year ended 31 December 2009. This increase came about on the back of a jump in revenue by 63% to $206.9 million contributed from a number of major projects with high contract value in their matured completed stage of work.
The group also recorded an 88% jump in its gross profit to $28.9 million attributed to the higher revenue and an improvement in its gross profit margin by 1.9 percentage points from 12.1% in FY2008 to 14% in FY2009.

Wee Hur Holdings says unit Wee Hur Construction has signed a supplementary agreement with Pacific Rover for changes made to the original design of a condominium housing development at Newton Road under a $99.9 million contarct awarded to the unit.
As another level of basement car park and additional 53 apartment units will be built, the contract sum has also been revised to $128.7 million.

Fernhill Crescent owners file suit against Wee Hur for damage to property

Wee Hur Holdings says Mr Cheong Par Kim David and Ms Leong Choy Wai, the owners of 15 Fernhill Crescent Singapore 259169, have commenced proceedings in the Singapore High Court against its unit Wee Hur Construction for allegedly causing damage to the property during the construction of the Orange Grove Residences.
The plantiffs are claiming against Wee Hur Construction the sum of $890,000; (b) an order for damages to be assessed in respect of certain costs and expenses amounting to $982,235.96; and interest and costs.
Wee Hur says it intends to dispute liability and the extent of loss and damage caused to the plaintiff. Necessary steps have also been taken to inform the company’sInsurer for coverage of these claims.

Wee Hur’s 1H net surges 496% to $8.8m

Builder Wee Hur Holdings says it recorded a net profit of $8.8 million for 1H09 ended June 30, exceeding that of the entire FY08 ($8 million) by 9.5%.
Comparing with the same period last year, net profit soared 496%, fueled by an increase of 132.6% in its 1H09 revenue to $108.3 million.
This surge was brought about by a number of major projects with substantially higher contract value currently in their more matured stage of work in progress.
