CIMB in a March 24 research report says: “We remain bullish on YNH’s prospects, backed by its sizable order book and consistent earnings delivery. We believe YNH’s order book could hit $679 million by end-FY2010, breaking its old record at end-3Q09, on the back of higher contract-win assumptions for FY2010 compared to FY2009.

Yongnam gains 1.9%; well placed for rail jobs, says CIMB

Yongnam Holdings (Y02.SG) has gained 1.9% to hit two-month high of $0.27 in active trade, extending Friday’s 10.4% gain, reported Dow Jones Newswires.

Newsflow on construction group has been thin since release of 4Q09 results late last month, but investor interest unabated based on expectations Yongnam well-positioned to land more contracts in Singapore, Asia, Middle East.

Yongnam Holdings posts 33% rise in profit before tax to record $49m for FY09

Yongnam Holdings, the structural steel contractor and specialist civil engineering solutions provider, announced a record profit before tax of $48.8 million for its full year ended December 31, 2009 (FY2009) on the back of a marginal 2.7% increase in revenue to $346.8 million. Yongnam says this is the fourth straight year of record performance since FY2006.

Gross profit rose 18% to $80.4 million compared to $68.1 million in FY2008 but 4Q gross profit was dented by cost overruns and stoppages at the Dubai Metro Rail project which was substantially completed by the end of FY2009.

CIMB in a Dec 8 research report says: “YNH had a record order book this year and its FY2009 net profit is expected to reach new heights. YNH is bidding for more than $1 billion worth of contracts. We highlight five major projects which we believe YNH could win, including Singapore Sports Hub, Downtown Line, Jurong rock cavern and Oman Airport Terminal Building.

Banks, CityDev, SIA, Yongnam up as at 10:06 a.m.

Singapore’s Straits Times Index added 0.7% to 2,750.11 as of 10:06 a.m. Eleven stocks gained for every two that fell on the 30-member gauge. Shares on the measure trade at 16.9 times estimated earnings, compared with about 10 times at the start of the year, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. The following shares were among the most active in the market.

Dec 1: CityDev, DBS, Yongnam, Sim Lian

Yongnam clinches 4th contract for Marina Coastal Expressway worth $21.5m

Yongnam Holdings, the structural steel contractor and specialist engineering solutions provider, says it has been awarded its fourth contract, valued at $21.5 million, for the Marina Coastal Expressway (MCE). With this latest contract win, the group says it has so far secured contracts worth a total of $283 million for the expressway project.

Yongnam will support main contractor Samsung C&T Corporation through the installation and removal of temporary steel strutting and walling works for the wide and deep tunnel excavation. The contract is targeted for completion by September 2012.
