The proposed redundancy program for the workers of Zastava Automobili has so far been accepted by about 200, out of the total of 1,600 workers.
This is according to the Director of the Kragujevac-based carmaker’s Staff and Legal Affairs Sector Margarita Gavrilović.

Zastava Automobili car manufacturer workers today held a public union meeting in front of the town hall in Kragujevac, central Serbia. They decided to reject a new offer they were given late on Monday by the Ministry of Economy and Regional Development.
800 Zastava workers to lose jobs
About 800 former Zastava car factory workers have not passed Fiat’s tests and therefore they cannot get jobs at the new factory, the Economy Ministry told B92.
The ministry says that the government will offer those workers EUR 300 for each year of service, which will be paid in January of 2011.

The Serbian government will try to find a solution for the problems of Zastava Elektro, whose workers have been on strike for six months. According to Economy Minister Mlađan Dinkić, one of the possible solutions is to find a strategic partner for the company.
Striking workers head home
Zastava Elektro workers from RaÄa ended their protest in front of the Privatization Agency and headed home at about 13:30 CET today. This came after the Interior Ministry (MUP) agreed to investigated the strikers’ accusations against the company owners.
